Colbert Laments DeLay Conviction, Bakes Him A ‘Hammer’ Cake … Full Of Iron

Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert last night wagged a finger at the American criminal justice system for convicting former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on two counts of money laundering.

Delay could face up to life in prison. But Colbert said he “won’t let a friend of the show go down without a fight.” When DeLay appeared on the show in 2007, he signed a hammer for Colbert.

Mysteriously, Colbert “misplaced” that hammer while baking a cake to send DeLay in prison.
