Jack Johnson Pleads Not Guilty In Bribery Case; Mugshots Released

Jack Johnson

Jack B. Johnson, the former County Executive of D.C. suburb Prince George’s County, on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to eight charges related to allegations he took bribes from developers and businessmen.

Johnson is accused of handing out grants and favors in exchange for airline tickets, rounds of golf and about $200,000 in cash, according to federal prosecutors. Prosecutors also say that Johnson solicited donations on behalf of his wife, Leslie Johnson, who was charged with tampering with evidence for allegedly stuffing cash down her bra and flushing a check down the toilet as FBI agents knocked on her door.

Leslie Johnson is currently serving on the County Council and has an arraignment set for April, according to ABC7 News. The station reported that Johnson said he would vigorously fight the charges against him.

“My reputation is at stake. Everything is at stake,” Johnson said. “I don’t even recognize the person that’s being charged in these indictments.”

TPM also obtained mugshots of the Johnsons. Thanks to inconsistent court rulings, only individuals within the sixth district of the U.S. judicial system may obtain mugshots via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, but they may obtain mugshots from districts outside of the Sixth District. The mugshots are below.
