Alaska Finally Ready To Release Palin’s Old Emails

Sarah Palin

The state of Alaska will soon release more than 24,000 pages of Sarah Palin’s emails from her time as governor, documents that media outlets first requested more than two years ago, when Palin was running for vice president.

According to The Anchorage Daily News, state officials “expect to send the emails to a commercial printer to be copied this week, a process that is estimated to take about four days.” The printed out pages will then be packed and boxes and shipped to those who asked for them.

2,415 pages of emails deemed privileged, personal or otherwise exempt from the state’s disclosure laws are being withheld.

From the Daily News:

It remains to be seen how many of the released emails are going to be at least partially blacked out. State lawyers reviewed printouts of each email and suggested which emails — or which portions of emails — to withhold. Gov. Sean Parnell’s office made the final decisions.

The state says it printing out the emails because it does not have the ability to digitally redact information from the documents. Those who requested the emails will have to pay $725.97 in copying fees, plus shipping.
