A new ad by the Emergency Committee for Israel (ECI), a group founded by William Kristol and Gary Bauer, accuses President Obama of siding “with the Palestinians,” and thanks politicians, particularly Democrats, who it says “stood with Israel” against the President’s call for negotiations based on 1967 borders, with land swaps.
The ad, features footage of Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV), Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Sen. Robert Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and will run in New York and Washington DC, according The Washington Post, on Fox News, CNBC, CNN and MSNBC.
Several outlets are pointing out that ECI’s executive director, Noah Pollak, Tweeted during Obama’s speech last moth that the President’s position was “basically identical” to President Bush’s. In an interview with the Post, Kristol brushed off Pollak’s comments:
I asked Kristol about the reference to Pollak’s tweets (sent under Pollak’s personal Twitter account). Kristol seemed amused. “Even the best tweeters can be wrong in their first impressions. In any case, it’s pathetic when the left won’t defend President Obama, and has to attack a few of Noah’s tweets!”
