Rep. David Wu released the video we told you he recorded earlier today and took his final vote as a member of Congress on the debt ceiling deal.
Wu, who was accused of having an “unwanted” sexual encounter with a young woman who is the daughter of a high school friend and donor to his campaign, announced he would resign after the debt ceiling crisis was resolved.
Wu was still undecided when he filmed the video this afternoon, but ultimately voted in favor of the legislation. The video doesn’t say when precisely Wu’s resignation would take effect.
“It is likely to be my last vote, and I want to thank the people of Oregon for giving me this seat in Congress temporarily, which is the greatest honor that an immigrant child can ever have — or any person in America can ever have,” Wu said in the video.
“Thank you very much, and god speed to you all,” Wu said. “Take care.”
