Gingrich Campaign In Debt To Super PAC Head, Paid Newt $47K For Email List

Newt Gingrich’s campaign, which closed out 2011 with $2.1 million to its name while carrying over a million dollars in debt, still owes $1,666.66 to Rick Tyler — the former Gingrich aide who now runs a “super PAC” supporting his candidacy.

Figuring out a way to pay off the $1,666.66 debt owed to Tyler for “strategic consulting” might be a bit awkward since the Gingrich campaign isn’t allowed to coordinate with Tyler’s Winning Our Future “super PAC.”

While Gingrich’s campaign didn’t pay off Tyler and still owes a company over $350,000 for private jet rides that made up much a large portion of his debt, the campaign did manage to give Newt Gingrich over $47,000 for the purchase of a mailing list he could have given to his own campaign as an in-kind donation.

A campaign representative originally said a $42,000 debt was paid to Gingrich in the third quarter of 2011. A filing with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday said that the debt was $47,005 and was paid off on Dec. 23 (well into the fourth quarter).
