George Zimmerman, the Florida man accused of killing unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin will face charges brought by a special prosecutor investigating the matter, according to multiple reports.

Citing unnamed sources, NBC News, the AP and the Washington Post have reported that Zimmerman will be charged. It’s still unclear what those charges will be or when they will be announced by prosecutor Angela Corey.

Corey has scheduled to hold a news conference for 6 p.m., ET.

The case revolves around the Feb. 26 killing, which has set off a national firestorm because police declined to arrest Zimmerman after he claimed he was acting in self defense.

A neighborhood watch volunteer in a gated community in Sanford, Fla., Zimmerman was reportedly patrolling the area that night when he spotted Martin, 17, walking home from a convenience store.

Some sort of confrontation took place after that and Zimmerman, 28, ended up shooting and killing the teen. Zimmerman’s family and attorneys have since said Martin had attacked him, but there was evidence that may not have been the case.
