Cantor Defends Bachmann: She’s Concerned About ‘Security Of The Country’

Asked on CBS’s “This Morning” about Rep. Michele Bachmann’s recent warning that the Muslim Brotherhood is infiltrating the U.S. government, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) declined to join the other Republicans who have recently distanced themselves from the congresswoman.

Leading Republicans, including House Majority John Boehner (R-OH), have criticized Bachmann and four other House Republicans for suggesting that Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, is connected to some kind of Muslim Brotherhood conspiracy.

CBS’s Charlie Rose was asking Cantor about his recent call for “the acceptance of diversity,” when he turned the conservation to Bachmann.

“Do you think Rep. Bachmann was out of line?”Rose asked Cantor. “It does not square with this.”

“If you read some of the reports that have covered this story, I think that her concern was about the security of the country,” Cantor said.
