Bush Not Apace With Pace

CNN's Barbara Starr just reported that President Bush and General Peter Pace are on the same page about munitions in Iraq. In reality, they're not even in the same book.

President Bush said it doesn't matter whether or not Iran ordered the weapons into Iraq as a deliberate strategy to attack U.S. troops. In Australia on Monday, Pace said he hadn't seen any evidence suggesting that the Iranians had done anything of the sort:

"We know that the explosively formed projectiles are manufactured in Iran. What I would not say is that the Iranian government, per se [specifically], knows about this," he said. "It is clear that Iranians are involved, and it's clear that materials from Iran are involved, but I would not say by what I know that the Iranian government clearly knows or is complicit."

The president is banking on a rhetorical sleight of hand. Are Iranians giving weapons to fighters battling US forces? President Bush wants to duck that issue -- implying that's the case without saying it and pretending that the only question is whether the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps's Qods Force has authorization from the highest levels of the Iranian government to supply weapons for use against US troops. Gen. Pace is keeping to what seem to be the actual facts; President Bush isn't.

And Bush's innuendo is working its mojo on the press, it appears. Starr said it would be "extraordinary" if Bush and Pace's statements didn't coincide. On that score, she's right.

Ultimately, do you think it's going to make any difference if the tame newscasters go along with this travesty or not? It's likely the Cheney Administration will just do whatever His Majesty damn well pleases and catapult the propaganda afterwards.

Bush was very busy catapulting the propaganda this morning, even if he did contradict his own statements.

Sheesh. Will no one rid of us these meddlesome MCM* non-reporters?

These cable TV reporters are so lightweight Bush can blow them like feathers in any direction he wants.

Is this fool capitalizing on the fame of Brenda Starr? Or is she defaming the name?

Its misleading. To my way of thinking misleading falls into the same family as lying.

The Shrub has found a new approach to war without end: rather than base war on bogus information, he now says any information is irrelevant. The Great Decider has heard the voices...

Barbara Starr needs to get herself a real job. Perhaps she could go to school and learn to become a hairdresser or something. Her talents are definitely going to waste in her current line of work.

When will someone ask the president about Saudi funding of Sunni insurgents?

The facts don't matter. It's a dare. Bush and Cheney are essentially telling the congress, the media and the American public (whose votes they no longer need) "Try and stop us, because we don't think you've got the guts." After the last six years, I think they might be right.

With the Administration it is all politics all of the time. Once you understand that everything else makes sense. He's holding a busted flush in his hand and figures that the only way out is to force Congress to stop funding the war. This gives him the out he needs and let's him blame the Democratic Congress for what Rove and the Republican echo chamber will trumpet as the "Defeat". Since Congress has said they will keep funding troops in battle he must escalate things past a breaking point. Then he can leave office once again blaming someone else for his stupidity. The NeoCons get what they want, Bush gets what he wants, and the people and especially the troops get screwed.

All this may be true, but, by golly, he wasn't burning the flag in the 60's and he's not getting any oral sex in the White House now, so it'll all be OK. That Constituion thing's just a piece of paper anyway.

I just axed JAY-zus about this last night and that's what He told me.
