Gov. Claims Padilla Interrogation Video Lost
From Newsweek:
...what happened to a crucial video recording of [suspected Al Qaeda operative Jose] Padilla being interrogated in a U.S. military brig that has mysteriously disappeared? The missing DVD dates from March 2, 2004. It contains a video of the last interrogation session of Padilla, then a declared “enemy combatant” under an order from President Bush, while he was being held in military custody at a U.S. Navy brig in Charleston, S.C. But in recent days, in the course of an unusual court hearing about Padilla’s mental condition, a government lawyer disclosed to a surprised courtroom that the Defense Intelligence Agency—which had custody of the evidence—was no longer able to locate the DVD.

Mr. Cheney seems convinced that lying is a president's first official duty. To protect us from the evil among us. From the reality that the president could only function through him. From the reality all bureaucrats who do not toe the line are disposable, regardless or because of their official duties. From the need to evaluate doubt and prioritize risk and the resources needed to fight it. Or from the reality that we can be so easily manipulated: he can, he does, and he gets away with it?

Also reminds of NJ 9/11 Air Traffic Controller interview which as I recall, was "accidentally destroyed". One of those guys (ATC) spoke up immediately, saying he notified CENTCOM as required almost immediately (5 mins after takeoff: transponder was turned off, plane turned off course). He was ordered to not speak publicly, threatened with prosecution if he did.
And that was the last we heard of that.

The cowardly bastards at Newsweek never put anything in the print edition (which is seen by many more millions of people than anything on the web) that shows up the administration for the lying weasels that they are. No, they'll stick to the De Pauw sorority stories for the print edition.

Very small as long as the Americans keep voting for this trash who have hollowed out democracy and truth all over the place.

If one branch of this government works at all, they'll simply toss the case out for gross miscarriage of justice by the executive branch, free Padilla and advise him to leave immediately to where our government can't their hands on him. If the video does come to light, they'll probably have to do that anyway, plus pay him a hefty settlement.
