GOPer: "Congress Was Lied To"
I don't think this counts as an outright call for resignation -- put it in the growing number of Republican "I'm on my last nerve" statements -- but at least it's straightforward:
U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa said Wednesday he was "outraged" that executive branch officials recently gave a congressional hearing misleading and inaccurate testimony based on information that both the Department of Justice and the White House knew to be untrue."We can soft-pedal it a lot of ways, but Congress was lied to," Issa, R-Vista, said in a Wednesday phone interview from his Washington office....
He said that if Attorney General Alberto Gonzales had any role in false information being given to Congress, "he should not be able to continue in his job."

He can readily recognize when a idiot lier has blow his lines . . . Although I am a bit surprised he is calling the DoJ & the WH on it. I wonder who pissed on his shoes.
Could he be ticked that the White House removed his favorite whipping-girl when they canned Lam? OR is it that they did such a crappy job and got caught thus highlighting his years of ragging on Lam? The latter is my guess.
It is good to see Republicans eatinf their own.

We've been through this sort of thing before, under Nixon, Reagan, BushI, and BushII's first term.
The rot keeps getting deeper and more severe.
We are way past the time for collegiality, going along to get along, and slaps on the wrist.
Gonzalez, Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Feith, and the rest of the lot need to be beaten(metaphorically), savagely, with the full force of law. Their sycophants and supporters should also be taken to task as well, and this modus operandi of political maneuvering must be discredited and reviled.
I'm convince that anything less will see our republic immutably corrupted.
(Security code:bent which is apropos!)

Here's a question: Issa is directly tied to the political pressure on Lam. Okay, we know that. And this former Deputy from the DoJ who initiated the amendment to the Patriot Act was now working in a law firm in Los Angeles. Now, I know southern Cal is a big place, but is there a tie between Issa and this DoJ official, or possibly even with the firm defending Cunningham or Jerry Lewis?
Jack wrote on March 16, 2007 4:25 PM:Republicans in Congress are outraged because of the contempt that the Bush Administration continues to show Congress. This administration acts as if it is above the law and the US Constitution. They lie and lie and lie some more, with some stonewalling thrown in for good measure. Hopefully more Republicans will wake up and smell the Constitutional Crisis coffee brewing. There needs to be some Independent Counsel who can relocate these crooks on Pennsylvania Avenue to the DC jail.
