gonzalez says he's not aware that the people he trusted added names to the list for improper reasons. But the inverse is also true: HE'S NOT AWARE THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE A PROPER REASON. If harriet myers adds a name to the list, no one, not gonzalez, not sampson, really knows why. Harriet could have an improper reason, even one she's not revealing or camoflaguing. the point is, sampson did not "make the decision" as he claims. he made the call to affirm the decision made by others. and the reasons - improper or proper - apparently are only known to those others. he can not, with integrity say, nothing happened for improper reasons, because he never bothered to find out the true reasons.

About 5-10 seconds in, Gonzales asserts that Feinsten hasn't read his whole statement. She leans back in her chair holding up a paper, which I suspect is his statement. He backpedals furiously, and she then shoots him a look that is so fierce. It flashes by very quickly, but daaaaamn. Gonzales is backpedling so fast, he clearly felt it too.

At the press conference she and Shumer held about a month ago, she talked about when she first heard about the "back-door" appointments, and Gonzales told her "she had her facts wrong" when she talked to him. In fact, no, she didn't have her facts wrong, not at all. At the time, I realized that this wasn't just political for her, it was personal now.
