NJ: Prosecutors Looking at Ex-GOP Rep
The Jack Abramoff investigation continues to burst with renewed vigor. Now, it's ex-Rep. J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) -- who was defeated back in November due in large part to his ties to Abramoff -- who might be in trouble.
In the current issue of the National Journal (not available online), Peter Stone reports that "two sources say that the Justice Department is making new inquiries into Hayworth’s past links to Abramoff."
Put Hayworth together with Reps. John Doolittle (R-CA) and Tom Feeney (R-FL), ex-Sen. Conrad Burns (R-MT), and ex-Rep. Tom Delay (R-TX), and you have five current and former members of Congress who are reportedly under scrutiny by investigators.

Put a nail in that one and keep him out of office for good!

There is something very, VERY disconcerting about their eyes. Is it the koolaid? Are they pod people? Maybe not, but OMG it makes you wonder.

I've found the most lovely depiction of all the fallen Abrahamoff trees to date. I've only seen partial listings prior to this. Can't wait for all the future additions to the blazing red depictions of "convicted" (or "indicted, at the very least)!!!

Since his lost to Honorable Harry Mitchell, Hayworth has dropped from the face of the Earth. He must be out of work or cooking in his buddy crook, exGov. Symington's restaurant. He never got his sports TV show again or even seen on any sports program.

No, he never will be missed. Summon the Lord High Executioner and let's all cheer.

I love the definition of a liberal: A conservative who has been indicted.

I caught the first hour or so, and was bored out of my mind. His first (and lengthy) foray into attacking the opposition was making fun of Hillary Clinton using southern accents. Oh so topical!
Things should get interesting with him being on air and now the subject of investigations...

I tell you, I learned more about the ins and outs of dirty play in that job. But of course, all these fine gentlemen were christian conservatives. No surprise there. My employer snapped his fingers and Doolittle would jump.
Here's a lovely image for you to remember Doolittle by. Think back to the movie Fahrenheit 9/11. There is one scene where Michael Moore is outside of the congressional temple and he's trying to interview the reps that are arriving about the war in Iraq. He's asking them if they would encourage their own sons and daughters to go fight since they themselves, the congressmen, are pro war. Naturally, no one wants to speak to Michael but they politely walk around him or simply say 'no comment'. Enter John T. Doolittle, my congressman. Michael Moore approaches Doolittle and attempts to ask him the same question as the others. Upon seeing Moore, Doolittle literally emits a very loud "eeeeek", jumps straight up in the air, and like a Tom and Jerry cartoon you can practically see his legs pumping before he even comes back down and hits the ground running. What a total moof!
My Hero, My Congressman.

These are not intelligent people - what they are good at is saying and/or doing anything to get their way, much like the used car salesman. Simple minded. Close minded. Anything but open minded, the quality which we need in our leaders, now more than ever.
Herb wrote on April 27, 2007 7:13 PM:JD Hayworth was a Phoenix local-news-weatherman* before he was a blame-Clinton Republican HACK Congressman from AZ. He was a classic 90s Republican -- a worthless leader. He got fat, and right before the '06 election, had that bariatric stomach-staple surgery. He couldn't believe it when he lost, because he was skinny again -- but the voters know that being a fat-pig has more to do with your actions than your waistline (or your weight).
'So happy, for him(!), that he can defend his actions as a US Representative in the 90s, full-time now, since he is jobless. 'Couldn't've happened to a more deserving fella.

Run down the list. If you have a substance problem that you are ashamed of then you learn to hide it and sometimes you actually do fool people...which means you are good at hiding other things. Same with gay Republicans. Again, if you are spying or bribing, you pal up with those folks because they're vulnerable, even if they don't project that directly, even if they kept telling themselves that they have control over their lives...in fact, folks like that often psyche themselves up and out about what they can and cannot get away with. Vulnerability.
Having said all that, let's not hate them but pity them, and clean up the mess they've created...while holding their feet to the fire and making them pay for their lack of poor judgements.

TexasEllen wrote on April 28, 2007 1:38 AM:Donviti, in Texas we always claim politics is our blood sport since the Lege made bullfighting and cockfighting illegal. On the national scene the Nixon administration provided the last big time, going to jail by those who worked in the White House, extravaganza. PBS carried the committee hearings live for months on end, and rebroadcast them every night. Some Republicans never got over it, like Henry Hyde. The attempts to investigate Clinton and his impeachment were in many ways belated payback.
Of course, in Texas we currently have the Texas Youth Council sexual abuse scandal. The entire State Board was forced to resign, the USAttorney General for West Texas, Johnny Sutton who refused to prosecute is one of the Kept Attorneys since he used to work for Gonzo in Texas. All state offices and the majority of both houses have been Republican since W was elected governor.

I was watching Bill Moyers Journal: Buying the War.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5Kngf803dQ
And I remember this guy sounding like Jethro from the beverly hillbilles wrapping himself in the US flag and reiterating every lie that the current administration stands for as he attacked Murtha.
But beyond that absurdity, the lies and the attack on Murtha, he coouldn't stop stealing.
The truth of the matter is that the administration used every coercive tool to lie this nation into a conflict in the middle east, and then use that same lie to argue that they had extra-judicial powers, appointing USA's under the patriot act, to continue with that lie.
And the appointment of the USA's was to continue the hold of the house and senate by obstructing justice and suppressing votes.
After the monstrous lies that led to the policy of waging 'pre-emptive war' and a resolution of war-powers to do so, the obstruction of justice, human rights violations, civil rights violations, corruption, seemed trite.
There is only one catch in all of this, this was a flawed policy, a miserable failure from the inception.
Institutionally there were long standing policies that were supposed to prevent this type of event happening. And these institutions were hijacked as thoroughly as if somebody had grabbed the controls of a plan and sent this nation in a disaster of a policy.
Hayworth will get tried as a crook, but he is in fact an individual who partcipated willfully in an organized effort to commit war crimes.
All these ancilitory acts are part an parcel of the initial distortion of what happened on 911, the subsequent lies that Condi didn't know, then the cooked intel on Iraq, and then the assertion that resolution of war-powers, the obstruction of justice, human rights violations, civil rights violations, and corruption.
Bottom line, these are war crimes and history will record them as such.
