Senate Committee Schedules Hearing with Schlozman

The Senate Judiciary Committee has invited Bradley Schlozman to testify before the committee in a hearing next Tuesday, May 15.

As laid out in a letter by Chairman Pat Leahy (D-VT) and ranking member Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA) yesterday, the committee wants to question Schlozman about his efforts to push allegations of voter fraud while a political appointee overseeing the Civil Rights Division and later as a U.S. attorney in Kansas City.

Would this testimony be in public or private?

Will he under oath?

I would hope the Senate will also ask Schlozman about the harassment in the Medical Supply Chain case where it looks like phones were tapped, Lipari's attorney was disbarred, and the case was locked away until the last few months from public view. Novation has been investigated by other USA's and the settlements have been huge.
Once you read the timeline for this filing it becomes a classic case of corruption and fraud of major corporations and our government. Who better to sit on this case than Bradley Schlozman.

Now this sounds like a hearing I don't want to miss.

Schlozman strikes me as the kind of guy that just might go off the reservation and have Jack Nicholson moment reminiscent of A Few Good Men.

Seriously, if he's 1/10th the ass as we all expect this guy is, won't it be exciting to see if he's gonna go like Krakatoa?

Leahy ought to make sure he has some MPs standing by.

This is simply an invitation. I'll be shocked if Schlozman actually shows up.

From the reports we've seen thus far, he faces a high likelihood criminal indictment. In fact, Schlozman appears to be in a far more precarious legal position than Monica Goodling. So why would he be willing to testify while Goodling is not?

My guess is that he knows he cannot refuse a this invitation and still retain his government job. My guess is that he's stalling, packing his boxes (cleaning up) and looking for a good attorney.

When it comes time for him to testify, I expect his attorney will send a letter indicating Schlozman plans to exercise his fifth amendment rights. Like Goodling, he may hang on a few weeks, burn his vacation time and then resign.

If that's the case I hope they stop pussyfooting around and get that subpoena rolled out on the double. So many crooks to hold accountable, so little time.

I don't undestand why the Bush Administration doesn't just place a phone call to G.G. Liddy and make a few of these more embarassing thugs disappear like in his daddy's day.

Michael Stevens wrote on May 8, 2007 9:05 PM:

I don't think we'll see him with or without a subpoena. And I think the Senators were fully aware of this when they requested his presence.

The guy is facing several criminal counts. He and his lawyer would have to be insane (or outrageously arrogant) were they to let him give un-immunized testimony before Congress.

I expect Schlozman to follow the same route as Goodling. He'll announce plans to plead the 5th, take a leave of absence, burn up his vacation time, then resign.

(I believe there is a court precedent preventing government employees from being fired solely because they've indicated plans to plead the 5th. So don't blame the Solicitor General if he hangs around a bit.)

The Senators aren't stupid. I suspect they knew he would never testify. They also knew that by merely requesting Schlozman's presence they would be setting off another large set of scandal ridden dominoes.

My PhD in physiognomy tells me this bloated assclown is an insufferable turd. The SJC needs to kick his fat pale ass around a while. He needs to understand, perhaps for the first time, who wears the daddy pants. Lindsay Graham should appear in buttless leather chaps with a whip.

Is there some point where these phony Justice department lawyers can face disbarment, even as they stall out actual criminal charges with claims of executive privlege and fifth amendment rights (said claims posted together, for the greater hilarity of all).

See the link below for the latest shoe to drop. The only thing the article doesn't include is John Tanner's ability to hookwink people into thinking he is some standup honest guy in people's heads. There is a whole crew he's got hoodwinked, like lawyers in his office like Susan Lorenz Gigure and Robert Popper. These clowns think John Tanner is somehow some innocent and noble leader. What they don't know is how many careers, how many lives he has destroyed - of co-workers none the less. He thrives on the witless, the people not quick enough to understand what is happening around them. The time will come when clowns like these are going to get run out of the place and replaced with true civil rights advocates, not shills.

Hey, maybe what the Senate Judiciary Committee should just do is just send out fixed date invitations to all present and former DoJ aides and all present and former Bush Presidency USAs.

There'll probably be a dozen or two dozen that will resist on 5th Amendment grounds. That will pretty much define the outlines of the criminal conspiracy and save us all a couple of months of piecemeal investigation. Hey, they're the representatives of the law & order, family values, morality, God-and-Country Party- and everything they do is obviously perfectly Constitutional.

In a public open forum and investigation of abuse of power.Novation isn't reinventing the wheels of healthcare, just greasing them a little.

I took a look at the voting rights case filed by the DOJ against Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan in 2005.

In May 2006, the court granted summary judgment to Carnahan and had this to say about the government's case:

"...The Government's Complaint is not clear as to what noncompliance conduct it alleges against Missouri. In some respects, it appears the Government alleges that [*18] Missouri itself failed to comply with the NVRA. In other respects, it appears the Government is attempting to hold Missouri liable for the conduct of local election authorities that does not comply with the NVRA. The Complaint does not separate its claims into separate counts nor does it explicitly state the alleged wrongful actors."
