Goodling: Graves Was under Investigation by DoJ
Monica Goodling had some new information on the firing of Todd Graves of Kansas City (the so-called "9th prosecutor"). Remember that Graves was forced to step aside, making room for Brad Schlozman, who had pushed the voter fraud cause at the Civil Rights Division.
Goodling revealed that Graves had been under investigation by the department's inspector general when he was asked to step down. She did not say what the investigation was about. She also said that she did not remember anything about voter fraud being a reason for his firing.

The most likely reason for the investigation is Governor Matt Blunt's fee office scandal. Senator Bond's office admitted they had contaced DoJ suggesting Graves be replaced over it, and Bud Cummins was investigating the fee office scandal at the time he was asked to step down.
As much as many want to see voter fraud be a major issue, a lot of us in Missouri would love to see the fee office scandal come back to life. It looks like Goodling might have just helped make that happen.

This sounds more reasonable , than voter fraud. After all, Graves was not just some no name person that could easily be shunted aside, he is a brother to Congressman Sam Graves. However Majority leader, Roy Blunt trumps a mere congressman and his boy is Missouri governor, Matt Blunt.

Hummmm, interesting, This would tie the Cummings dismisal into the same pattern of firing proscutor that were investigating corruption of Republicans in high places.

"Thor" Hearne, who had been both Blunt's right-hand legal man for some time; as well as a GOP point man in Florida in 2000 (but who wasn't?); as well as the Bush/Cheney '04 general counsel in Missouri (at the specific, personal request of Dubya's uncle, Bucky Bush,
before he then became the Bush/Cheney '04 national general counsel; and after the election, he became the founder of the scam "non-partisan" GOP front group calling itself "American Center for Voting Rights" (ACVR); which was, in turn, behind virtually every report, initiative, claim, piece of legislation, Congressional testimony, legal case, "official commission," or public statement concerning the cooked-up case for the mythical epidemic of Democratic "voter fraud.

And, even better, same source states Cummins was repeatedly called abuot the investigation by
William B. Mateja of the D.C./Dallas law firm of Fish & Richardson, who had/has a long history of ties directly with DOJ and WH.
the blog story sums up:
So here we have a top Dallas-based attorney, well-connected to both the DoJ itself as well as the White House, calling a U.S. Attorney five times on behalf of clients, Blunt and L&G, both well-connected to the White House and DoJ themselves, and who are both under an investigation by that U.S. Attorney who is then terminated, for official reasons still unknown, shortly thereafter.

Ho-hum. Been writing about this for weeks now. It's good to see that I and many others in Missouri were right about this. Also, for the umpteenth time, if Graves was really unwilling to pursue these allegations why did he sign the lawsuit against the state of Missouri? No one in the media -- neither Josh nor TPM Muckraker -- has ever taken on that rather big flaw in his story.
