Jefferson's Brother Fingered in 2nd Federal Probe
From The Times-Picayune:
Former Orleans Parish School Board president and self-styled corruption fighter Ellenese Brooks-Simms will plead guilty in federal court today to charges that she accepted more than $100,000 in bribes from Mose Jefferson -- the eldest brother of indicted U.S. Rep. William Jefferson -- in exchange for supporting a multi-million dollar math curriculum contract, according to sources close to the case....This month, in the 16-count indictment handed up against William Jefferson in Virginia, [Mose Jefferson] emerged as a key player who was hired by firms that his brother, the congressman, allegedly helped with trade deals.
Just to help you tell the two brothers apart: William is accused of accepting bribes, and Mose is accused of giving them.

Please, Muckraker honchos, your style sheet needs to include: Do not use "fingering" and "probe" in the same head. Thank you.
Mike Hunt wrote on June 20, 2007 1:13 PM:Did Jeff Gannon do the "fingering"? Or,is this a headline that needs to be re-written a bit?
randy wrote on June 20, 2007 1:20 PM:mike, your fake name is NOT clever and you of all people do not get to comment on the awful wording of the headline.
put these bribe takers up against the wall and save the public the expense of a trial. PLEASE! That would be just.

Glad I'm not alone. But least it doesn't read "Jefferson's Brother Fingered in No. 2 Probe"

"The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported in 2005 that JRL had received $45 million in congressional grants since 1998, the first via former U.S. Rep. Bob Livingston, R-La., who was then chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. When he resigned in 1999 and turned to lobbying, he took JRL as one of his first clients."

I suspect we could find out a lot more if we just look into this matter a bit more. And it looks like it might be a equal opportunity operation in graft.
