Schumer on Bush Commutation of Libby Sentence

From Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY):

“As Independence Day nears, we are reminded that one of the principles our forefathers fought for was equal justice under the law. This commutation completely tramples on that principle.”

Bush's message to the people of the CIA:
"Your leaders can't be trusted"

Bush's commutation of Libby's prison time is a prime example of this Admin's complete disregard for the law, but as infuriating as the act was, beware of the next several days.... This morning Bush's spokesmen came out with charges that "Hizboullah" is in Iraq at the behest of Iranian government...all without proof other than "US Intell". And Bush met with Putin at Bush's Daddy's compound. (So all the players will be clear as to future actions.) We'll be at war with Iran within days and everyone will forget about Libby and the politization of law, and the fired attorneys, etc completely. (Anyone remember the Congressman and the intern's body found in the park? Which Congressman? which park?....)

So Chuck, what are you going to do about it?

Well it didn't take him as long as I thought it would now did it. The rule of law that was used to justify impeaching a president over a deposition in a civil matter seems to not be important in a federal felony conviction. These republicans never cease to amaze me with their unbelievable arrogance.

What is happening to our Country when our executive branch totally disregards the law of the land and spits in the face of our citizens. We are hated all over the world and our lying leaders cannot travel any where in the world without protest except Albania. Is this the type of democracy we are killing our soldiers for in Iraq? It makes one ashamed of the Republican Party

Stark reminder: It's not what you know but who you blow. The Banana Republic of the United States.

I'm tired of all this tough talk from our Dem "leaders". Anyone with a pulse knows BushInc is nothing but a criminal enterprise that has taken a massive dump on the Constitution. We don't need our "leaders" to remind us how corrupt they are. We need our "leaders" to go to war against these fascists!

Nice pretty words Chuck. But without action they are COMPLETELY EMPTY, POINTLESS HOT AIR - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ALREADY!!!!

That George W. is an abortion that should have been allowed to happen.

I hope the world can survive the rest of his term, our congress does not seem to want to do anything about it.

Impeach 'em both. Has not the time finally come? And we need to nail the pollsters who won't ask the question. I bet it's over 39% and building. Please, blogosphere, keep the firstorm going; you're our only hope.

This is crunch time for those who think Bush and Cheney are crooks. Just 24 hours ago I was not ready to demand impeachment; now I am certain that I will demand it at the top of my lungs from now on, and will denounce and discard any Democrat (or Republican) who will not respond to the citizenry of this country. I want to live in a Constitutional democracy, not a banana republic run by criminals. It's almost too late. Demand that Congress take action now. Let's scare the hell out of the Democrats, people.

Every career employee of the DoJ and the CIA should submit their resignations tomorrow in protest. I was 15 year federal employee that worked in the area government fraud, waste and abuse and quit after Bush stole his second election. This administration has only gone downhill since then. It is clear they have no respect for the rule of law or the protections of citizens rights.

US citizen's can be rounded up and sent to Guantanamo without a hearing for years, but a member of the Administration's elite can sell out our National Security for political gain and never serve a day.

It is a sad day to be an American.

I wrote to Senator Schumer today, asking him what he was going to do about it. Same with Senator Clinton and my Representative Jerry Nadler.
