How about if Alberto holds himself to the same rigid standards he claims to have applied in firing those U.S. Attorneys, and fires himself? They didn't get to fix the 'messes' they allegedly made, so why does he get to do it?

America deserves better. And, nobody believes a word he says now anyway. Time for you to go now, A.G.

This man's name should be: Shame Incarnate. Utter Degradation.

The wall of denial is amazing to see.

Billy Pilgrim wrote on July 24, 2007 10:32 AM:

A near-comatose John Ashcroft did all the talking in the March 10 bedside meeting, talking "lucidly" about complex FISA issues.

Absolutely shameless. When will the lightening strike?

Orrin Hatch to the rescue! (as usual)

"Tell us the whole story of your visit to Ashcroft, you were trying to save the orphans
from al Qaeda's flamethrowers, isn't that right?"

Hatch is like the circus worker who follows the elephant in the parade, scooping up all the droppings.

Mel wrote on July 24, 2007 10:43 AM:

I just went through just what Ashcroft did, and I am thirty years younger. There is just no way he was doing the talking.

Candyce wrote on July 24, 2007 10:44 AM:

They need to impeach the AG. This is just a rehash of his previous "I don't recall" testimony. He's lying about the meeting with Ashcroft. "To the best of my recollection" is the mark of a liar, the faulty memory defense.

For crying out loud, here he is again, saying he doesn't know why the election fraud guidelines have been changed. WHO is in charge over there???

Question: If Gonzales is able to talk openly about a classified briefing with the Gang of Eight and characterize their remarks are the members of the Gang of Eight now free to discuss the same briefing?

Or would they be revealing classified information by confirming (or more likely denying) Gonzales's characterization of their remarks (Pelosi, Reid, Rockefeller, Harman?).

That 'Gang of Eight' excuse given by Gonzales seems designed to avoid any ability to confirm it's truth.

Mel:

Perhaps you aren't half the man Ashcroft is? Both Comey and now Gonzales have testified that John Ashcroft was LUCID as he defended the DoJ's position on that issue. He then told Gonzales that he was not the Attorney General anyways.

Jake-Poo - I love your doo-doo!

It's us two - in the Muck - together!

Gonzales "understands" Dem Sen. Ben Cardin's frustration. He "understands" it but doesn't give a f**k about it.

Feinstein told Gonzales he doesn't understand how the Justice Dept is losing credibility. Yes he does Dianne, he just doesn't give a f**k.

Jake D. wrote on July 24, 2007 11:04 AM:

But, President Clinton never lost credibility with the good Senators from California, did he?

What a vile, sniveling glob of human excrement. To have so little shame, as to stand before Congress and give such a performance, makes me wonder how this person (and I use the term loosely) could live with himself. I really can't imagine being the facade for such criminal behavior as has been perpetrated by the DOJ either. When I look back at the Bush Administration years, I am reminded of William Golding's Lord of The Flies. When you remove the adults and supervision - it seems the juvenile elements of society quickly revert to savage and corrupt behavior, and quickly forget that they will ever have to pay the price. I hope we get to see this criminal incarcerated by the next Administration, and I hope it is for the rest of his life.

SC - waste - like waste of oxygen.

Gonzales, like so many others in this 'administration', is a liar and a punk.

Jake D,
I'm just curious: What do you do for a living? You of course don't have to answer, but I just wonder what job permits you to spend such a tremendous amount of time posting...

Just threw Ashcroft under the bus--saying he authorized domestic spying from the inception, wonder what ole Johnny boy will have to say about that.
