Target Practice
Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) -- whose home was raided by the FBI late last month -- told an NBC affiliate in Alaska, KTUU, he still isn't sure if he is the "target" of the federal investigation.
"I'm not sure I'm a target yet. I've not been told I'm a target. But as a practical matter, the situation -- I shouldn't have answered that question either," Stevens said. "I was not a target of those other investigations, is what I was saying."
As we've noted before, the "target" line is a favorite one of scandal subjects who want to sound as if things aren't all that bad. But it sounds like Stevens needs some convincing.

What about Barbara Flanders? Flanders is the $152k financial clerk for the Senate Commerce Committee who did personal bookkeeping for Stevens. She recently testified about the Girdwood deal.
What does Flanders, 54, do to earn as much as the Committee's legislative counsel? Why did she recently get a $38k raise?
Senator Inouye, the Commerce Committee chairman, is Stevens' best friend. Flanders got her raise on his watch.
Is there a possibility that Flanders is romantically linked with Stevens or Inouye? I don't care how old these two coots are, they have big egos and that is what counts.

Seems the Idaho GOP (and RNC) is taking care of that for all of us.

Jake D: I hear they're moving the GOP convention to the mens room of Ft.Leavenworth so they can get enough GOP elites for a quorom.

Sounds like the whole Alaska delegation will not have to use anything so mundane as a telephone. They will meet in the mess hall line.
Could Stevens sound ANY MORE STUPID?? Not sure if he is a target???? I think the REST of we Alaskans are pretty sure.
We could always buy him a CLUE. I'll put in my two cents.
