Ex-Veco Prez Testifies To Paying For Young Pig Roasts

Last week, the trial of former Alaska state Rep. Pete Kott (R-AK) on corruption charges churned up an unwelcome amount of muck for Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK). But yesterday it was Rep. Don Young's (R-AK) turn. Former Veco president Rick Smith testified that he arranged Young's annual mega-fundraiser pig roast at a cost of about $10,000 to $15,000 for a decade. Smith wasn't asked if Young reimbursed him.

The pork galas had been hosted at Veco CEO Bill Allen's house, but since he pleaded guilty to bribing Alaska lawmakers, a change of venue was necessary. So it took place at former Gov. Bill Sheffield's place this year, where about 70 protesters hollered outside. Back in January, Young reimbursed Allen $38,000 for "fundraising costs," though Young hadn't held a fundraiser that month. The refund seems to be part of Young's new habit of returning suspect fundraising money after federal investigators become interested.

Love the dollar symbol as the "s" in "What's cooking'" poster. I assume it wasn't intentional, but....

Pictures of Don Young's most recent salmon fry in Anchorage clearly show grills with the VECO logo on them.

This arrogant weasel can't help himself, even while returning "fundraising costs" from prior influence-fests.

Young will probably file an addendum this year to report the past ten years of bribes... I mean fund raising costs.

The way Congress and Senate rules exempt those mobsters in Washington from the same laws the rest of us have to obey, he'll probably get away with it.

He might even take a cue from these 13 clowns who haved decided to not comply with their subpeonas and not even bother showing up at his own trial... if there ever is one.

It still grates me that hard working folks can donate to a campaign to help someone they believe in get elected and after the scumbag has been found to be a crook... he/she can just divert the money for their defense fund.

Remember this when you are asked to donate. They have already set us up. Remember this again in the voting booth... they have preplanned for their upcoming corruption trials... and when they are found guilty, we make sure we pay for their retirement for life.

When are we going to demand those folks change the rules BEFORE we reelect them?
