McConnell Reiterates Claim That Debate Will Kill Americans
So much for Leahy's admonition. In response to a question from Sen. Arlen Specter (R-PA), McConnell reaffirmed that discussing the administration's surveillance program in open session will endanger American lives.
Specter added, apparently assuming that McConnell was concerned about the disclosure of sensitive surveillance methods and not having the debate at all, “Well, if we get into that territory, Director McConnell, tell us, and we will desist on a public session, and then take it into private session, to find out what we need to know.”

Dare we hope that he will begin to understand that those of us watching what the Democratic leadership does care little for what they say?
Is today the day that the senator's light bulb goes on and he realizes that temper tantrums and verbal diatribes do not easily substitute for real leadership?
Color me a little cynical about that.

If we're to be outraged, let's pick something real to be outraged about.
YellowdogD's absolutely right.
He didn't "reiterate" the statement...He acknowledged saying it earlier.

This debate must remain as a fully open public dialog.
Its not like we're talking about an obscure legal concept or a point of law that affects 2% of the population.
This is about a fundamental constitutional right that cannot be negotiated away behind closed doors out of sight and earshot of the American people.
The American people are absolutely entitled to know who is expressing what opinion on this most crucial of issues.

I take exception to that. All good Republicans believe in the 2nd Amendment and that it is a both a constitutional right and a God given right to carry the largest caliber firearm you can afford no matter how stupid or mentally unstable you may be.
Simply put your life can never really be in danger if you can blow the other guys head off first. I call it safety via brinksmanship.
