TPM Mukasey Vote Tracker
He's up, then he's down. But only one thing counts in the nomination of Michael Mukasey for attorney general, and that's the votes. So we've set up a chart to track them as senators announce their stances. Just today, Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) announced that they will be voting against.

If it doesn't get out of committee, it won't go to the floor. The guy to watch is Chuck Schumer. HE is the one who brought the name to GW as a possibility. HE hasn't indicated how he intends to vote. Any NYers reading this should give him a call. (202) 224-6542

jimijazz wrote on November 1, 2007 10:44 AM:Mukasey's nomination needs to be voted down when the Senate Judiciary commitee votes. Otherwise, it will go to the Senate and he will be confirmed. Senator Schumer should have the guts to say he screwed up and will decide to vote "no" on his nomination. Don't pass off damaged goods on the rest of the country. We've certainly have had enough of that.
