Confirmed: A.B. 'Buzzy' Krongard Sits on Blackwater's Advisory Board
That's settled. Blackwater spokeswoman Anne Tyrrell confirmed in an e-mail today to TPMmuckraker that A.B. "Buzzy" Krongard, brother of State Department Inspector General Howard "Cookie" Krongard, is a member of Blackwater's advisory board.
Howard Krongard testified this morning that he doesn't know if his brother is on Blackwater's advisory board, but if Buzzy is, Howard would recuse himself from any Blackwater-related investigations.

I was also pretty apparent by the look on Cookie's face when Rep. Cummings pulled out the letter and email from Prince that he did not expect that at all and he started changing his tune after the documents came out. His answers previously were pretty cut and dried concerning his brother's involvement, but then he changed tact to "I am not aware of any involvement with Blackwater from my brother" type of answers.
Either Cookie or his brother are lying, which is it I wonder? It has to be either Cookie knew his brother was working with Blackwater and lied about it, thinking the connection couldn't be proven... Or Cookie truly didn't know his brother was working with Blackwater and wasn't lying when he said he asked his brother and his brother denied working with Blackwater...
Really anyway you look at it someone is lying... I have no idea whether it's Cookie lying, his brother Buzzie lying, or they're both lying.

Because the letter to his brother is dated July of this year and according to info on the Oversight Committee's website the advisory board didn't have their first meeting until yesterday (i.e., was he allegedly scuttling before or after the invite, or both?).

His recusal should have come long before, given his brother "Buzzy" as Executive Director of the Central Intelligence Agency was the connection between CIA and Erik Prince of Blackwater.
Krongard was appointed by George J. Tenet on March 16, 2001, and resigned from the CIA shortly after the arrival of DCI Porter Goss in September 2004.
