Bob wrote on November 20, 2007 11:10 AM:Bless that brave young man! Standing next to the former AG was a dangerous act, even at a public forum with press coverage. Think what would have happened to him had the Bush campaign staff been anywhere around!
Mafalda Hopkirk wrote on November 20, 2007 11:14 AM:As you can see from the photo above: One of the protesters stood directly next to Gonzales, who calmly avoided looking in his direction."
Seems to me that sums up the entire Gonzo record. "I didn't see anything... my recollection is that my memory has no record of any ....."
The war on error wrote on November 20, 2007 11:24 AM:Notice the orange tie Gonzo is wearing? Fits nicely with the orange jumpsuit, dontcha think?
Slim wrote on November 20, 2007 11:27 AM:As I read in the comments on another blog - how f**ked-up is our country when the police arrest the protestor and stand-by and protect the criminal.
I hope we see this everywhere Gonzo goes.
danger wrote on November 20, 2007 11:43 AM:Don't torture me, bro!
Looks like the trigger happy UF police learned a thing or two about not acting like a bunch of militant fascist jackasses to suppress free speech.
KilgoreTrout XL wrote on November 20, 2007 11:50 AM:There's some pretty upset right wingers in the comment section of the school paper, but I didn't see anything in the video indicating that it was more than a simple, peaceful protest. I can't believe that he doesn't realize that he'd be much better off speaking in more traditionally conservative or christian school, so sither he likes the attention or the liberal schools are offering better coin (which he needs, desparately.)
On a purely superficial note: Why does he always wear suits with huge shoulderpads? He looks ridiculous. I haven't seen a suit like that in a store, ever. He must have those things custom tailored, which is even more disturbing.
TheraP wrote on November 20, 2007 11:53 AM:Kilgore:
I think the whole bush cabal wears suits that have "football type" shoulders. I have long wondered if that was part of the party line. Linebackers. I've noticed bush's puny little body is made to look bigger by his jacket shoulders.

These guys must never have a minute of peace for the way they tried to wreck out government.
Republicans mock and sneer at government, saying it cannot do any good. Then they get into offfice and try to wreck it. Throw them out.
gregor wrote on November 20, 2007 12:18 PM:Suggestion to students at the next stop: Go dressed conservatively. Go early and sit in the front rows. And as soon as he comes on stage wear the black Abu Ghraib issue hoods. If two or three rows in the front are like that in every event, and if he has an iota of shame (big assumption, I know) he will stop making money off his dishonorable disservice to the public.

You beat me to it!!
Why is a peaceful expression an arrestable offense?
Dana John Hill wrote on November 20, 2007 1:50 PM:I am certainly no fan of Gonzales, but according to The Gainesville Sun, "the police only arrested those who rushed the stage--not the hecklers--because they posed a potential threat." I am fairly sure that a person rushing the stage during a performance by Garrison Keillor or Ivo Pogorelich would have also been arrested. It's kind of a no-no anywhere, even if you're peaceful.
But I especially like a previous poster's idea to don black hoods.

Looks like the football play that needs to be run is one player looking to take one for the team and get arrested (so long as it's nonviolent) while the rest heckle the guy. Strength in numbers will intimidate the police, now that the UF and other campus and police in general have seen the power of Youtube's citizen reporting.
Oh yeah, what is UF thinking spending $40,000 to have Gonzor speak?

I was also reading the comment section in the Gator and, speaking of upset right-wingers, guess whom I found posting there with a vengeance????
Our beloved (and sorely missed) Jake D.!!!
Not only that but he's been posting his favorite (albeit nauseatingly redundant) question again and again:
"Is less than 10 seconds of waterboarding -- with cellophane wrapped around your head so no water gets in your mouth or nose -- really torture? "
All this while claiming it's just an "honest question".
I got so infuriated when I saw it again that I decided to out him to all the readers of the Gator. If someone objects to that, I plead temporary insanity!

It's actually a lot of fun to read how the others respond to him!
He has even used the "Paulose approach" and quoted the Bible in one of his postings!!! UNBELIEVABLE!

anybody recall how chris hedges was treated at a rockford ill college just prior to the invasion. shouts, interruptions, someone actually pulled the plug on the mic, guys rushing up to the stage to scream at him. the dean was even forced to intervene to quiet the crowd.
and all because he (prophetically) forewarned of what bush's war would do to this country and iraq. the dean was even forced to intervene to quiet the crowd.

A lot. But at the last moment, he couldn't remember a thing.

Yeah, they like to hold the offices and titles and pay lip service to society...but, really, all they are interested in is power.
