ABC: Giuliani Attends Fundraiser Held by Felon

Who else would he raise money for? From ABC:

A Pennsylvania man convicted in a notorious corruption case played host to former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani at a fundraiser last night, despite the Giuliani campaign's public efforts to distance itself from the man.

Bob Asher, a major Pennsylvania Republican player as a national party committeeman, was one of four hosts for the $2,300-a-person event. Asher was convicted in 1986 on charges stemming from a bribery scheme intended to win a $300,000 state government contract. The case gained national attention when his co-defendant in the case, Pennsylvania state treasurer R. Budd Dwyer, committed suicide at a televised news conference. Asher was sentenced to serve one year in prison....

"That's 21 years ago, so we'll let that go. I did what I did, and I've paid may dues for it," Asher told ABC News outside the event last night....

Asher announced earlier this year he had agreed to be Giuliani's Pennsylvania political chairman, according to the New York Times, although the Giuliani campaign disputed that.

When asked about his role in the campaign last night, Asher said, "There's been no one named in Pennsylvania to any post here at all."

Rudy Guliani was too busy before 9-11 hiding the interests of Bernie Kerik who is now under federal indictment. He knew about his mafia connections and kickbacks.
He was protecting his friend - a pedophile preist.
He got kickbacks from the company that made defective radios that firemen had to use.
He was seeing another women while married.
No wonder he did not protect Americans before 9-11.
And murder rates went up by over 3000 in 2001 alone while Guliani was the mayor of new york.

What is it with Rudy and indicted and convicted felons? Obviously, he can't find anyone who is not a crook to give him the time of day.

Mike - while no one will accuse Rudy of not being a complete douchebag - try and get your facts straight - the murder rates in NY went up by over 3k because OF 9/11 - hello, McFly...What exactly did you expect him to do as Mayor of NYC to stop the attacks on 9/11? Stand in front of the buildings to ward off planes that did not originate in NYC? Yes, Kerik is a corrupt, mobbed up cronie...yes, he is protecting a pedophile priest...yes, he was pro-choice before he was against it...yes, he was pro-glbt rights before he was against them...yes, he was an idiot in putting the emergency response center for NYC in a building that had already been a target of a previous attack. Yes he is an idiot but don't flub the numbers to make your point look better - it just makes you look like a tool.

Damn them! It took me quite some time to make my way through St. Davids on Route 30 last night, and now I know why.

Someone needs to create the "Convicted Felons for Rudy" PAC...

Mike - stop copy and pasting that garbage. We know he's a corrupt douchebag, but saying that the murder rate went up because of him is an absurd assertion.

As per the article, Rudy doesn't appear to care at all about public connections to criminals. I wouldn't go so far to say he flaunts it, but he hasn't even been trying to avoid it.

Wonder if anybody got a who's who list of who attended and who he showed up with. Potential Giuliani Partners clients??

this is directly for Asher...

I'd give you the benefit of the doubt, ONLY if you'd get hell out of politics.

I got a DWI 10 years ago.

You know what, I got the fuck out of bars.

Screw you and screw Rudy, you keep doing the same thing time after time after time, expecting different results. It's a very accurate definition of insanity.

Yer still an influence peddling scumbag until you prove otherwise.

FARKTARD.

Rudy is an idiot, danger -
Rudy says he will protect americans -
were americans killed on 9-11 -
Do you call it murder -
So if Rudy is president and americans get
murdered by anyone and he said he'd protect americans would you hold him in any way responsible for not protecting them.
What is the difference - you can't just take this crap at face value. Look at what he is saying and what he has done.
Those people on 9-11 were murdered while he was mayor - that is a fact Rudy is an Idiot.
I said he did not protect them, true or false.
He says he will protect you when president, true or false.
Can't have it both ways and thats a fact.

I have to say I agree with Mike,
I might take your view if only you had said Rudy cannot protect us.
But you seem to assume that just because
he says it he will do it. That is what you should question - not some one who points out the contradiction. What is there in Rudys past that would make you question someone who points that out.
Murder is murder is murder. Either you can be protected against it or not. And Rudy says he can protect against it. Mikes is correct - you cannot have it both ways.
By the way - what does McFly mean - is that a 60's thing like groovy - well I think Mike is groovy!

Why do you think Rudy can protect us now. Your arguments are not making sence -
Do you or do you not think americans can be protected from murderering terrorists.
How would one go about doing that the way Rudy did on 9-11.
Mike makes a logical argument but you two are kind of confusing - are you saying we can't be protected from planes
smashing into buildings - that seems to be an absurd assertion.

Great News. There are more than enough PA residents that know that anyone connected to Asher is Bad News. Unfortunate that there are enough corrupt, wealthy Repugs in PA to hang out with Asher and give $ to Rudy.

But it won't help get votes here.

Mary wrote on November 27, 2007 6:13 PM:

Mike did not say anywhere that Rudy was responsble,
no where did he make that assertion -
but Rudy does say he will protect us from murdering terrorists -
if now - why not on 9-11.
I guess your saying we cannot stop murderers from crashing planes into buildings -
oh but they were'nt murderers they were enemy murderers -
but no fear -
Rudy is not responsible for future attacks from them - but he will protect you from them.

Lisa--PLEASE don't encourage this guy. He also argues that the murder rate went up by 3000 while Rudy was mayor. Unfortunately, that is a reference to the 9/11 victims.

Rudy is bad news, in my opinion. But bad argument and bad facts just screw up a decent thread.

I don't want the kind of protection any of those guys are promising. Somehow keeping me "safe" consists of depriving ME of My rights. No one (except Christopher Dodd) thinks I deserve to be protected from my own government. We really need to elect someone who will return our country to what it was before georgejr decided to appease terrorists, by removing their reason (our freedoms) for hating us.

I'm a little concerned that, in the rush to criticize conservative hypocrites (e.g. the "tough on crime" Rudy cavorting with lawbreakers), we end up trumpeting their values. For instance, this post treats ex-cons as noxious, ipso facto. Not a progressive/liberal value coming through here.

Rudy was also hired to push convicted felon John Poindexter's Matrix Program in Florida. Matrix turned into convicted felon Hank Asher's Seisint Inc.
Labeled as a terrorist tracking program, it was just another end-run around Congress and the US constitution.
I'm assuming that convicted felon Hank is related to convicted felon Bob.
