Hill's Superdelegate/PA Gov. Rendell: Elitist or Realist?
While freeing up some memory on my DVR, I stumbled across an interesting exchange between Hillary Clinton superdelegate/PA Governor Ed Rendell and Bill Maher. From the February 29, 2008 edition of Real Time ...Bill Maher:
How many rednecks are there in...more »

Bush Abstinence-Only Crusade Exported=Death In Africa
I've now outlined how Bush's Abstinence-Only Crusade=1/4 Of Teenage Girls Get STDs and how Bush's Abstinence-Only Crusade=Big Money For Religious Right. Still, even with the explosion of these abstinence-only programs (and the directly related decline of comprehensive sex ed programs),...more »

Bush's Abstinence-Only Crusade=Big Money For Religious Right
Previously, in Bush's Abstinence-Only Crusade=1/4 Of Teenage Girls Get STDs, I connected Bush's abstinence-only crusade to the high rate of STDs among America's teenage girls. Today I delve into the real motivation behind yet another harmful Bush policy. What makes the...more »

Bush's Abstinence-Only Crusade=1/4 Of Teenage Girls Get STDs
Last week the CDC released the results of its first-ever study of Sexually Transmitted Diseases in teenage girls. The results were deeply disturbing. One in four teenage girls has an STD. For all African-American teenage girls that number is double....more »

MCain's Ties To Lobbyists = Telecom Immunity
Everyone's all a titter about Sen. John McCain's "inappropriate relationship" with lobbyist Vicki Iseman. I personally could care less whether or not the self-confessed Senior Adulterer from Arizona and Iseman are romantically entangled (other than the mere thought of McCain entangling...more »

I find it hard to believe that Addington, Yoo, Ashcroft or Feith will ever stand before Congress to answer any questions. This is just another stalling technique. When their time to appear rolls around, they'll either have a back ache, need to wash their hair, be otherwise indisposed or the White House will claim executive privilege.
That way Addington et al can then claim they were willing to testify. Congress is stonewalled for another two months and these crooks get two months closer to their post-2008 election Bush pardons. The big question is whether or not the Bush Administration can stretch this process out that far.

There is nothing "conservative" about "Conservatism." The term "conservative" is a misnomer bordering on the Orwellian. Theirs is the posture of a radical fringe group.
So-called "conservative" policies injure many and benefit few (i.e. themselves). Their philosophies are long on rhetoric and theories but short on practical solutions. "Conservatives" pursue an agenda that is disruptive, divisive and all too frequently extremely damaging to our way of life. On every conceivable crucial issue we now face, from global warming to the economy to health care, "Conservatism" suffers from a profound lack of vision.
What exactly is "conservative" about any of this? Not a damn thing.

Given the amount of potential confusion these WVWV mailers and robocalls cause, the question we should be asking is what demographic(s) this campaign targets.

Despite their "non-partisan" cover this is a Democratic shop. The principals involved all appear to have contributed to Democratic campaigns.
It's telling how Hillary is employing any number of tactics that we've lambasted Republicans for using in recent years. I'm not a Hillary hater. I've voted for her twice. I have been for the most part pleasantly surprised and pleased at the job she's done for New Yorkers. But I find longer she campaigns, the less I respect her.

This report's conclusion is unbelievably disingenuous due to the very foundation upon which it is based. A study from the US Military, for the US Military, using only "official" facts and figures provided/approved by the US Military cannot in any way be objective. Thus this report cannot be taken seriously.
What we have here is a conveniently timed argument for sustaining the "surge" no matter how "well" it may be going. It's just another in a long line of BS defenses for Bush's state of perpetual war.

The only confusion is how this clown still has a job. Johnson, like the rest of the Bush's crew, is no stranger such delaying tactics. But you'll be seeing more and more of this as we near Bush's exit. Every day, week and month thus delayed limits just how much truth we can learn about this Republican Presidency's malfeasance prior to the election. At the same time it brings these folks closer to pardon time.

While I fully expected Rove to avoid testifying at all costs, I must give props to Rove's lawyer for the "my comments were taken out of context dodge." It's a classic feint. Keeps your opponent guessing. This strings the whole process out at least another month without doing a damn thing and brings Rove one month closer to pardon time.

I missed the more recent update. D'oh. This is progress. But we know Justice will do to this investigation what it has done to so many others, slow things down to a grinding halt.

Never. Gonna. Happen.
Rove, his lawyers and Bush's lawyers will drag this out as long as possible. He'll have to reschedule a few times due to "important prior commitments". Rove will eventually say "After further consultation my lawyers inform me that it is not in my best interest to testify at this time." Finally, Bush will pardon him and the whole point will be moot.
But it is a nice change to see Karl at least pretend to offer to cooperate.

To paraphrase myself (ouch!), "strongly worded letters" and "open letters" are what the weak send to the powerful. I suppose Boxer, Pelosi, Conyers and the rest of the gang feel they have to do something, anything. But we're talking about a party whose head, The Preznit, ignores Congressional subpoenas out of hand.
If, as Democrats, liberals, progressives, etc., we needed any more motivation to GOTV in November, it's more shit like this.
