  • Why even fight it? The Money will just buy up the media outlets that are not towing the line, just like Murdock intends by buying the WSJ.

Since the Civil War, media has figured out that they aren't in the business of selling information, they are in the business of selling entertainment.

Meanwhile the progressive movement stares at its navel and wonders what it can do about it. As long as free enterprise is the name of the game, there's nothing that can be done, willful ignorance is the siren song of this country.

  • Was Sowell's rant serious? Because after seeing Ann Coulter backpeddle into her "just joking" routine it entered my mind that it was satire. How can he possibly be serious?

  • Sowell's rant was so over the top, for a moment I wasn't sure if it was satire or not. After all, with Ann Coulter at times saying she was "just joking" who would know with these people?

But you are absolutely right, I recently read the oath these guys take when they sign up. It must be tearing them up they must do what the "Commander Guy" commanderizes.

If he pushes them much farther, he WILL know what a patriot looks like, in the form of a soldier refusing another lame order. I'm not sure what that means for our constitution, but it can't be any worse than by what Georgie has soiled it.

  • Thank you for another piece of puzzle to fit into my understanding of the mess we find ourselves in.

May we at last finally learn to stop repeating history. I'm not optimistic we will remember the lesson even if we do learn it, though.

  • The only thing to pity is the marketing slobs who fall all over themselves with fistfulls of dollars to promote people like Imus to have them fart on the air.

That they would think a fool like Rush, making light of a tragically ill celebrity, is worth putting one penny behind as a sponsor is most definitely worthy of pity.

  • RE: Clock ticking on Impeachment

    WRONG

All they need to do is make Bush sweat enough to resign. Tricky Dick resigned, and HE was one tough SOB, much tougher than Bush could ever dream of being. Same with Cheney. The guy says the most audacious things yet goes unchallenged. I bet John Stewart would have him piss his pants.

It's going to come down to GOP saying who's gonna get tossed overboard, them or Bush. There's NO way GOP can survive Bush digging in. Not for 2008, 2010 or beyond. Not now that he's upped the ante with the lives of 25000 more troops by extending tours. The fact he's playing this game is just now sinking in to the general public:

"Oh, that's why he's pitching a fit about running out of money, when he wasn't. He was figuring on blowing a bunch and THEN some."

They got the goods now, how do you think that is going to play out?

  • Oh but this is just getting good, with the RNC saying that they have the goods on Sir Karl, courtesy of the Duke of Fitzgerald.

The sound you will be hearing over the next 48 hours will be the vacuum of the Grand Old Party putting as much space as it can between itself and the White House.

  • "Did Patrick Fitzgerald know this? It appears the answer is no."

What are you talking about? I remember in his closing that he specifically stated there were emails missing, you could almost see the "nudge nudge wink wink, mr. incoming chairs with sopeona powers" act he was laying out.

He had a very narrow scope and IMHO I think he knew his name was on a list somewhere.

EDIT: I think that explains why his office never leaked too.

  • @Hoppy in Sacremento, you DO realise that for many years, the only people able to make money on the 'net were porn sites?

    Might STILL be the case.

DISCLAIMER: The only channels on at my house are Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. I have this incredible urge to go buy toys and breakfast cereal now.

  • Remember the joke about 100,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? Something about "A good start" being the punchline?

That is what comes to mind here - a good start. Firing was most definitely in order because he doesn't warrent being on the air in the first place. The suits are too damn afraid to pull the plug is all. But why stop here with the inane drivel that is floating off into space to be observed by aliens light years away?

Do we really want to offend other brave new worlds with Rush's impressions of tragically ill celebrities? Or of visages of the Ann-apple? Get real.

This stuff is going out into space, forever. Go see the movie Contact, believe what you will, but this may yet be a reality. And yeah I know it's cable but some of it gets bounced to satellite.

The stuff of the airwaves has gone way past the definition of entertainment. Why anyone would watch this joke in the first place is beyond me. That anyone would watch these guys and take them seriously is the bigger joke.
