• I especially liked how he opened this little attack by referring to his two nephews fighting overseas. I imagine it WOULD be difficult to tell them that their uncle's opponent wants to "slit their throats." But I also wonder how they would feel about being used as political props by their uncle--who is running so that he can vote to keep them in Iraq indefinitely.

I bet that would be hard to tell them, too.

• Give me a second here, I'm starting to see a pattern. Let me work through it. First, Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina who's reelection campaign was spooked by this cycle enough to fund an ad blitz in early June. Then, Sununu in New Hampshire who's fighting for his life. And now, Gordon Smith and Susan Collins who are vulnerable incumbents in Democrat-leaning states. Why can't I figure out what it is?

Oh, right--they all think being financially linked to a felon is all it's going to take to tip their reelection bids over the edge. Winning is fun.

• That's a generous use of "borderline" in your last sentence. The Post's take on these statements by Iraqi officials has been a broad, improbable comedy.

• "No one knows the questions before they're asked," Rogers said. "No one hears the questions before they're asked."

That would be a worthwhile answer if the question posed was "Does the McCain campaign screen questions on their conference calls?" However, the issue is whether the campaign screens certain reporters or news organizations from asking any questions at all. You don't have to know the specifics of what questions will be asked, if you only call on people who are certain to ask softball questions.

• Must be nice to think so highly of yourself that you can condescend to members of Congress. Is there an award for most arrogant testimony to a congressional committee?

Oh, also: this guy seems like he's awfully comfortable with lying.

• I'm fairly certain you're just trolling at this point, Paul_P, but this comment is shockingly uninformed:
"Well we certainly can’t accuse Obama of that can we as he hasn’t said anything of substance on any of the major issues facing America today?"

Take a look at Obama's lengthy energy policy or his plan for health care reform. They're detailed enough, clear enough, and progressive enough to satisfy most people on the center-left. But, I suspect you're not that interested in researching the candidate's positions. It's much more time-consuming than spouting nonsense.
