This is an innoculation ad. Obama has been hitting hard at the top seven McCain advisors. The current ads will be used to establish a moral equivalency. Yes, both sides have lobbyists or former financial executives. So What?
Obama waited far too long and hit far too weakly. It is not that there are seven lobbyists, there are 116 lobbyists. There are few who are not lobbyists on
his staff.Posted at September 19, 2008 10:25 AM in response to McCain Ad Blasts Obama For Ties To Former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson

Not unless we get a lot tougher. Trust me, I have lived in this state for more than 56 years.

This should be the unified message of every Democrat on any talk show. They should start with McCain's hypocrisy on the economy and then move to the hypocrisy on earmarks with: "Not only does McCain lie about Palin and her Bridge to Nowhere, but neither he nor his "press shielded" vp running mate will condemn the indicted Stevens for leading the Senate in earmarks. These are real change candidates, more like gutless wonders."

Actually, one needs far greater skills to be a president than a CEO. I have been both in government and with a Fortune 500 company. Guess what, the companies tend to have far simpler issues and a far easier set of priorities than does the government.
I may very well have to determine new product offerings, strategic business partners, cost cutting measures and similar issues. However, as a CEO, I have far greater control over the implementation of my concept of the direction that the business will take, especially since I will also have had a very great deal of control over those appointed as directors. Indeed, my responsibilities are less. I do not need to are about the interests of the public (and while I screw my fellow man, I can spend millions to convince them that I am helping), the people I fire or the national interest. (See Cheney, Haliburton and Iran.)

No, Firoina, we got to see how well a president with an MBA could do with Bush.I noted that those in the top levels of business had scarcely hidden contempt of those who served in government, either Democratic or Republican. They always spoke in a condescending manner in private conversations noting that those who were really any good would have been in business.

I am in the Dayton area which has been savaged by the economy. We are looking at the DHL closing and Miamisburg GM Truck plant. This should be very fertile ground for Obama. However, Obama had ceded far too much ground to McCain, especially during the period before his convention. The ads have all been extremely negative with far less coming from Obama. That may be changing now, however, most residents just parrot the Republican talking points - higher taxes in particular. They also just think Obama is weak. Look, this is more than just undecided, secret racists (although there are many). This place was swinging towards Obama. Yes, it was a stretch for many, but a stretch that they seemed ready to make because of the economy. They want a strong leader, Obama ceded this issue.

It is really time for a holy war against the biased media. It needs to come from the people. We need to organize mass responses to this kind of clap trap and make them understand that there will be a very heavy price to pay.

Since I am in the Dayton area where the economic issue should resonate well with those DHL, GM Truck plant and other displaced workers, I can state that the Palin phenomena is only part of the picture. Yes, they love her because they see her as down to earth and tough, not afraid to fight. The wimp factor has been hurting Obama big time. I get sick of what I hear from so many other Democrats. How many times do you need to be hit with a club before you recognize who has been hitting you?
The Republicans have constantly played the tough man/woman card while calling the Democrats weak. We constantly respond with "We will win by taking the high road and by not descending to the same nasty depths." We are constantly losing with that theme and quite frankly, why the hell should anyone trust us to handle national defense or any other tough issue when we let the Republicans Bitch Slap us.
No, go after McCain/Palin in Ohio as liars. Mock Palin for avoiding the press and having to be tutored as a little child. Mock her commander in chief experience. Put her and McCain down and down hard. At the same time play up the god damned connection between McCain's lobbyist advisers and the economic problems in Ohio.
Christ, you people are fools.

Where are the ads on McCain, the really nasty ads that will take him down? Why the hell say that he cares? The Republicans piss on Democrats and we take it. I am sorry but I no longer have any confidence in the Democratic party. They are just too weak and willing to be humiliated. I am sorry but Democrats make me sick now. Is there any time that they will really stand up? Any abuse they will not take without turning around and telling those who sodemize them and tell the rest of the country how nice the bastards are and how they really have the best interests of the country at heart?
There are only two hopes for the country: the instantaneous generation of a third party with some actual guts or a revolution.

Wow, those of you who accuse us of being concern trolls, we certainly are doing well with the gutless, wimp campaign. Let us here these little girlie boys come out now and tell us how those who want to see a robust campaign were wrong. Yes, let us see how the "high road" has really succeeded. No one suggested the low road. We suggested fighting back against smears, lies and press manipulation. Cowards just do not realize the necessity. Obama seems to understand it. Let us hope it is not too late.

Give it up. McCain will be president. Once again the comments talk about taking the offensive. However, our candidate will not do it. We now see Obama behind in the polls, intrade and in controlling the campaign. Frankly, I am going to drop my Democratic party membership and move over to the Republicans. The Democrats are incapable of fighting.
I am sorry to see this country become a one party state. But I will join that one party to try to work from the inside. However, the Democrats have just lost my respect. They are either morons or cowards. Once again we go into the last 60 days of the election with our polls crumbling, the Republicans in charge of the message, our candidates disparaged and the public turning against us. Well screw the Democrats.
