When Rudy was denigrating the filth that is San Fransisco and Chicago, I kept waiting for him to mention New York as another pit of filth that must be destroyed...
Oh wait, that's Bin Laden's line.
New York's OK for small towns to maybe not hate enough to drag the faggots and intellectuals into rural re-education camps.
But we in Chicago? We have to LOOOOVE these small town salt of the earth types who - kind of just for sport - like to marinate in their own deep resentment.
Don't hate us 'cause were beautiful you salt of the earth small town Nazis.

Democrats have to love small towns, but Republicans get to viciously attack cities.
When Rudy was badmouthing Chicago and San Fransisco, I was just bursting to hear him say..."But NOT New York."
I'm a big city mayor, and I HATE cities.

Thank God you're not incredibly self congratulatory Sarge.
When did the lynchings in the south happen? In between rousing football games?
Also thank God you look at real issues and how the GOP is going to dismantle America and sell it to the highest bidder.
Salt of the earth types like you don't fall for the facile impressions --- oh wait. you do.

I'm 39,
I remember 1980 with $1000/ounce gold and 20% interest rates - then the rec(depr)ession of early Reagan years as an historical crisis point.
But now the home forclosure rate is the highest since - the DEPRESSION.
We had a run on a bank in California - the first run on a bank since - the DEPRESSION.
Oh and income equality? Highest since, guess when? The DEPRESSION.
And we have an army that is overstretched and unable to respond - to respond to the annexation of territory by an authoritarian government in Russia.Yeah, I think now's the time to pull up out of our nosedive.

Speaking of speeches that got ignored,
Harry Ried pretty much opened up a big 'ol can of whoopass in his speech.
I was listening (NPR) and I couldn't believe it didn't get more fiery applause.
He really cut to the chase, simply calling Bush out for cronyism/war profiteering.
There was even some 'right wing' young male commenter on NPR who said "I just wanted to mention first, Harry Ried gave an incredibly partisan speech..." Then Andrea Seeabrooke cut him off as they went to Bill Clinton.

Jim,
I find myself really looking forward to and relishing your columns.
Your key virtue is the refusal to 'explain' too much by summing up or dumbing it down.
Ooh. Given Lieberman's 'grandpa' performance against Cheney, I can only hope Joe slaps Judas Leiberman around like a cat with a cornered mouse.

BINGO. Give Tom Wright a stuffed animal.
This has, is, and always will be about big bucks coming to contractors - there's the feeding the fantasy of total dominion over the earth too - but that's just the 'fun' part.
