David Gergen on CNN, amid the harping of Bay Buchanan with her new pretending to be hip glasses, had to use his very quiet adult voice to seriously question the wisdom of Sarah Palin as veep.
May McLaughlin, Will, Brooks, and others follow suit. Other than a purty couch cozy, what does she bring? Votes? Foreign policy xp? Enlightened women's rights policies? All the people she will win are already voting for her.
Gustav is about to wring out this absurdity of incompetence, not so much hers as McShame's, as this is just a terrible choice.

This is an offensive pick. She brings nothing but punchlines.

I do not agree.
You are still caught in the reactive spotlight.
Obama's speech last night was a clear call that he would be taking over now. And that means proaction.
It means speaking the Truth regardless of the risk. The Obama camp statement is fair game. This was a lousy pick.

Tom Ridge would have been trouble. He was the best option.
Hillary's voters will not be attracted to a pro-life interloper who has not struggled, and has zero cred fighting for a woman's right to manage her own health.
This was a dumb pick. Campaigns are about narratives, and plopping this twinky in at the last minute makes a mockery of the GOP's argument that Obama is too inexperienced.
Add the trooper scandel (what's in the water in Alaska?) and this is just a horribly stupid pick. But she shore does make a nice couch cozy for McCain, dudn't she?
Her kids are named Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper and Trig.
No Ridge? No problem! Biden will debark her in debate.

Tropical Storm Hanna formed overnight, and will be headed towards Florifa. It is possible two hurrucanes will make landfall next week during the GOP convention, which is already competing with Jerry Lewis/Federal Holiday on Monday, and NFL Kickoff on Thursday.
The ad simply restates the McCain theme which unperpins all of his party's policies: bankrupt. The GOP response to the convention thus far is tepid because it presents few hand-holds. We know they are afraid.
What real defence has McCain against the organizing machine Obama has assembled? That is where the election will be won: on the ground, and in person.
And for all ye poll-lovers, Gallup has good news fer ye this morn!

There was a day when election coverage across the networks was a slightly different shade of vanilla.
No more. C-SPAN and perhaps PBS remain largely unfazed, but not the MSM. CNN is news for the snooty elite. And you only tune in Fox to see if the elephants have come in, or that crazy car that 57 angry white republicans climb out of...
MSNBC's desk is outside, and they are constantly involving real people. There was a moment after the convention where 2 hand-helds were covering a pow-wow between Mitchell, Todd, Williams, and Gregory on the empty floor that was very real and unlike any other coverage. Very back-stage. It made me miss Tim Russert, though...
Wolfon's politics rely on a certain degree of shadiness that can longer be dispensed in the era of the Great Intertubes. It brought down King Bubbuh and Jane; how powerful they could have been had they grown up in time?

Non-sequitur. September is a different time in campaigns. Or is this your first one?

Still August.
When America's women learn that McToqamada's reproductive health policy amounts to prison time beginning at conception, things will change.
When McPastit's only issue - Iraq - crumbles around a pull-out deal to a date certain, things will change.
When King Bubbuh and Jane finally exit the stage, things will change.
It's still August. McCain is goung to be out-organized and out-thought. I actually believe the rise of McGrave's numbers is intentional. Obama is the master of political jujitsu, but you can only throw your opponent's momentum if the opponent puts real force behind the attack. The GOP will be sticking it's scrawny neck waaaaaaay out there next week...
Michelle Obama is...well, she's just on fire crazy hot! Pick and angle and she dominates, large and lovely! And she's not bad on the eyes, either! I mean just wow...and her children...just lovely!

Observations Three:
1. The GOP response is panicky-lame. I name him McPeaked.
2. Say what you will, either with Old Joe or agin, short of a thankfully astronomically unlikely convention coup, the fall of King Bubbuh is now complete.
3. Someone please buy Lestatdelc a drink.
Now that it's done, please, Old Joe, flash that million dollar smile whilst you skewer the criminal enterprise posing as the GOP.
It's done. Time to shine.
