  • Greg should be getting fewer allegations of bias now that he is clearly biased against McCain. (Of course that bias is entirely warrented and based solely on the facts, but it's a certain kind of bias all the same.)

  • Can we also agree that if a Democrat had been whipsawed by a prior statement like this, the press would be full of stories about its amateurish campaign and how they're not ready for prime-time? Package this together with all of McCain's newly discovered dictator lobbyists and the story writes itself.

    Waiting for those stories in 5 . . 4. . .

  • Shhhhh! Don't remind them!

More to the point, this is exactly why Senators have had trouble running for president since 1960. They have long histories of spouting off on issues and have often cast thousands of votes that can be used against them. While Obama's relatively shorter resume may be a weakness, it is more than off-set by the gems in McCain's history. It's especially bad for an opportunist like John Sidney.

  • John McCain on June 20, 2005:

"What I think we should do," McCain told NBC's "Meet the Press," "is wait until we achieve the successes, then celebrate them, rather than predict them. Because too often that prediction is not proven to be true."

Maybe he should take his own advice.

  • This kinda has the feel of something thrown together at the last second, so I hardly think this was a "keep it in my back pocket" deal. My guess is that with all of the inane "Can Obama win white working class votes?" talk, Edwards decided to step in and give Omaba some credibility on that front and change the headlines.

  • Does this mean Obama has 33 percent of the West Virginia vote?

Posted at May 14, 2008 5:28 PM in response to Edwards Will Endorse Obama Today

  • Well, you know what - as of 1992 no Democrat since 1844 had won the presidency without carrying North Carolina. But Bill Clinton did it. Don't buy into these historical definitions of what states are going to be the difference makers. Just because Obama redraws the map and is unlikely to carry Appalachia does not mean he can't win. It doesn't even mean he is less likely to win. To the contrary, his map is a more natural fit for the emerging Democratic coalition.

And no one is saying all - or even most - of Hillary's supporters are racist. But she does seem to be catering to her racist supporters these days . . . .
