McCain is as phony as a two dollar bill. First he casually states that we may be in Iraq for “a hundred years”; then he softens his tone and pretends he didn’t mean it. He doesn’t know who the parties are in Iraq and needs turncoat Lieberman to cue him on which party is which there. He says he wants federal funds, then exceeds the limit for spending his funds, and he would be guilty of a crime if it weren’t for the fact that the Federal Election group hasn’t got enough members to come down on him. He tells homeowners that he believes they shouldn’t get government help because that isn’t free enterprise, then he promises help but it’s so meager it won’t mean much. He calls himself a straight talker, but won’t release his wife’s tax returns (to show how wealthy she really is). He takes a government disability pension, yet calls himself fit to run. If this isn’t the perfect picture of a hypocrite, what is? It also shows how the Media is so screwed up because they take him seriously when he’ll say anything, promise anything, to get elected.

Hey, this is another B.S. brouhaha cooked up by the HClinton Campaign and magnified by the Media. Hillary has learned her lesson well from Rove, alas. She seizes on something that can be construed in a thousand different ways, and frames it, turns it into a "condescending" comment by Barack. This, unfortunately, has begun turning me off Hillary, when I felt positive about her before. It is also the game the Media plays because they have nothing of substance to write about, and they love to see feuds and infighting among all the candidates because it generates reams of copy for which they get paid and then they can consider it all a horse race and speculate about winners and losers. A game is all it is. The pot (Hillary) is calling the Kettle (Obama) black (no sarcasm implied although it may be misconstrued as such [chuckle]). And all of you join in the game of wagging about it, magnifying it, minimizing the importance of the real issues and whether they are being addressed. Hillary is elitist, Obama is elitist, McCain is elitist, FDR was a patrician elitist, but good ole George Bush successfully pretended he wasn't rich, didn't go to an Ivy League school, was a Texan, and was just a simple working frat buddy, and see how much of a populist he is. What a load of crap! Write, please, about important things.

You imply what I believe is a fundamental problem with the Main Stream Media and the Congress. I say this because Petraeus is, as the article describes, the puppet of George Bush, our President, and Bush, not Petreaus, should be the one being asked the questions. It is very clever of Bush to put our Ambassador and the Commander of the Military in Iraq in front of Congress and the American people to deflect the blame and hard questions. Maybe you could write about how Congress and the Media seem to be exceptionally stupid because they're playing this game. They didn’t even think of asking the other Commanders to speak about how the military is over-extended and how Iraq saps their strength. If Petraeus said we're losing in Iraq, if he said we need to bring the troops home, do you think he would have his job for more than a few weeks? Bush would fire him and appoint someone else. So let's not be bamboozled by the game that's being played out here. A good question, that wasn't asked of the Ambassador, is: "Who ordered the agreement between the U.S. and Iraq created without being concerned about whether Congress would pass on it?" The answer is obvious, it was Mr. Bush. No Ambassador or General could create that by themselves. Maybe we could have columns from you that illuminate the games being played, including how McCain hasn't got a clue. Lord knows, there are plenty of games and bamboozlement going on. I don't know who said it, but it's a great quote: The only thing that gives me any understanding of infinity is the extent of human stupidity.

I sent the above by e-mail to Conyers. Think it will have any effect? I'd appreciate if those of you who know can tell me who will read it and what will happen as a result of it?

I get tired of this crap and the self-delusion that goes with it. A Congressman writes a letter to a Bush cohort, and the Bush cohort either doesn'tr answer it or comes back with a gobbledegook answer. The Congressman, and the press, and the blogs wring their hands. Nothing gets done except that Congress begins to look stupider and stupider, and more and more easy to avoid. Everybody is way too polite to say, You lied. No one seems to have the strength, the fortitude, the imagination, the bravery, the indignation to really move on someone like Mukasey with a subpoena or sending a Congressional policeman in to arrest the man and make him testify. As far as I'm concerned this is a stupifying crap game played over and over again by a group in Congress that has been revealed as less than half wits.

Congress will cave. With leaders like Reid and Pelosi what can you expect? That's why we need new Senators and Representatives, to replace these muddled, scared-of-it-all, unprincipled seasoned compromisers. I, for one, am sick of their cowardice.

I live in California and plan to vote to replace Senator F when she comes up for re-election because she doesn't know how to act. She can write letters, and protest publicly but that's all. Her conduct in protecting the citizenry is appalling. She's been in office too long; we need a change.

Traitors hide the truth. Traitors betray the United States by not allowing others to see their stupid mistakes. Traitors undermine the United States by hiding mistakes. It doesn't matter who you are, if you hide or obfuscate the truth about what has happened to make it necessary to put over 4,000 of our brave men and women in harm's way, you are a traitor. You undermine our country's ability to solve and fix problems that need to be solved so we don't repeat our mistakes. Plain and simple. Traitors hide the truth.

Hey, are you all blind or naieve or what? The Democrats are just as corrupt as the Republicans. My hope was that, if we got them in last election, it would take a while for them to get up to speed and reverse some of the Bush roadblocks and obfuscations and corruption. Unfortunately, the Democrats have been slow to do so, and they're not even bold or strong enough to stand up to an essentially unfeeling and self-righteous President. So why all the hand-wringing? We need to elect people who will change things, really change them, if we want to see our freedoms returned. "Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom" and "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." Haven't you guys ever heard those wise words of wisdom?
