  • Recalling MN scandals, it seems that Senator Coleman would have not gotten in this mess if he had paid attention to an earlier situation. Less than two decades ago "In 1990, upon the recommendation of the Committee, the Senate denounced Senator David Durenberger, in part based on his financial arrangements in connection with a condominium in Minneapolis, finding that his conduct was deemed to have `brought discredit upon the United States Senate' by a `pattern of improper conduct,' although the Committee did not find that any law or rule had been violated in connection with the condominium." (Congressional records)

It would seem that an ethics investigation at a time when there is political interest in how Congress investigates and follows up on alleged violations is very likely. Furthermore, it seems that it may well be just what the Republicans do not want in the state where they will be holding their nominating convention.

  • Seems there is something significant here. Seems there is is tie to an issue played out after the recent NYTimes story where meetings have been denied by the Honorable Senator McCain and confirmed by others.

In an on air interview Bill Cunningham stated having met McCain twice. Once at the invitation of former Ohio Senator DeWine for a dinner. This would seeme to tie to what seems to be another controversy over the ability to recall meetings and also a lack of attention to what is going on in his campaign events.

Does this sound familiar in other recent hearings involving Republicans? Cannot recall. No one told me. Here is the newspaper link to the the story.

  • Important, yes. Demonstrates again how the systeme works. The rich and powerful act in a theatre of the absurd at a high cost to their prey. These word wrassling events are popular much like other similar entertainment. Keeping hands off those at the top and playing the heartstrings by using saving youth or the national sport as motivation are all too familiar.

This is what I see as the importance of this as another powerful observation of the ways of the world. Whether it is abu gharib, the politicization of the justice department or another recent scandal those at the top are not touched despite their complicity. And instead of being direct in placing responsibility for all those involved, there is a flag waving and charitable covering put on those truly responsible for the situation.

The theatrical word wrassling is merely another means to distract attention from the heart of the matter and plays to those with limited resources and without the required empowerment to feel hopeful about being able to change the system which preys on them.
