John McCain is turning into the Rodney Dangerfield of presidential candidates as we speak. He coming to Canada on Friday, and Canada's ruling Conservative Party--of all people--is giving him the cold shoulder. Just to refresh everyone's minds, this is a government lead...more »

  • How did Wright's 'offensive' claim become Hillary's campaign?

Something like six weeks ago, in the run up to the ohio primary, Jeremiah Wright's sermons hit the press. People were offended; Hillary Clinton was heard observing that if she'd been in the church that day, she'd have walked out...more »

The investication into the sources of the leaks during the 'naftagate' scandal, which slimed Obama just before the Ohio primary appears to have been completed. Press releases and a Reuters story are both claiming that the investigation has 'cleared' Ian Brodie--long-time aide, best...more »

  • It's because Quayle really was a fool, and Barack Obama isn't--that's why people treated him differently. It's not some kind of double standard. There's no way in hell Quayle could have made it to the Veep's office under his own steam, as Barack Obama has done.

  • Lots of things get denounced as anti semitism that aren't. Some even get called anti-semitism which are the reverse.

For instance, the claim that criticism of israel is anti-semitismm is identical to the claim that *Israel* and *the jewish religion* are identical: which is precisely the thinking of someone who'd blow up a diasporah synogogue to avenge some atrrocity conducted by the state of Israel.

So why are you trying to encourage anti-semitic thinking?

  • Wikipedia's flaws and merits are identical to those of this site and to political blogs in general, and for precisely the same reasons.

Any poster who's too good for wikipedia should go and find another past time.

  • Doyle is the only high profile person 'fired' from the Clinton Campaign who actually left. In contrast, Mark Penn's firing was largely cosmetic. The claim that she and Hillary aren't speaking is plausible.

  • "There's no polite way to put this: The coverage of Hillary's "cackle" was simply sick to its core."

Nonsense! Hillary's laugh was absolutely fairball. First, her 'laugh' was fake, and fake for a reason: she was using it to evade questions she didn't want to answer. If she got asked one, she'd toss back her head and laugh--to show that it was all a silly joke--and move on. However, most humans are adept at recognising insincere laughter, and Hillary's phony laughter wasn't at all convincing, so people noticed and commented, as is entirely predictable. English comes equipped with several terms for describing false laughter, and one of them is "cackle". It's use in discussing Hillary Clinton' insincere emotion is both appropriate and not a matter of sexism.

As well, I'm sure Hillary Clinton believes strongly that politics isn't for the faint of heart. The coverage of Hillary's weird utterance was fierce, but was considerably LESS vicious than the coverage of Howard Dean's scream, for instance.

  • There are no odds that a devastating clip remains undiscovered in any Trinity sermon video: there's no way in hell the Clinton campaign would have missed it if there was, not after their investment in Hillary.

There may be surprises out there, but none of them are going to be in a source as obvious (in the post-wright era) as this.

We'll cross that bridge once her campaign enters its death throes, and not a moment sooner.

Hillary is demanding the right to keep on fighting while demanding that Obama stop; that's not how it works.
