  • iaf, when you speak of Israel 'hoping for the best', how do you define the 'best' for Israel?

  • Yes, iaf, but Alan's lengthy list derives from a miniscule percentage of our population.

People begin to think about the Jewish-Americans comprising some 2-percent of our population, but having 13-percent of the Senate seats, 7 or 8-percent of the U.S. House of Reps seats...I wonder just what percentage of the almost 4,100 American service-personnel dead in Iraq were Jewish?

I hope MJR is incorrect with his prediction of an eventual back-lash, but it can happen.

In the immortal words of Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?"

I can hardly wait for the usual 'anti-Semite' screaming that this post will generate...so I deny that in advance.

  • Oh, yeah, and I want to second David Sloane's congratulatory bye-bye to Paul Keil. I'll miss his commentaries and stories.

  • I suggest that George W. Bush and his V-P, Dick Cheney be subjected to 'enhanced interrogation methods' including waterboarding, until they tell the American people what the February, 2001, Energy Task Force Conference was about including the agenda and what decisions were made; and they oughta continue such interrogation until the White House accounts for all the 'lost e-mails' which might help explain how this country got into such a dismal mess in just eight short years.

I was NOT making an argument syvanem, public or otherwise.

I was asking for Davai (and now you, since you have entered into my quest for answers) to furnish an outline of what you think would be terms acceptable to you RE the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Your implied suggestion of a 'fight to the death' hardly advances any meaningful terms for discussing the issue. Perhaps a 'fight to the death' is what we are seeing at present...albeit in the opening stages.

But, at any rate, why do you take a serious request for opinions and turn it into an 'argument'?

Davai, With all due respect I'm supposing that you prefer peace and its benefits to war and the resultant horrors.

Everyone knows there are myriad problems which present difficulties to reaching accord between Israelis and Palestinians.

What I ask you to furnish, if you will, is an outline of the requirements that YOU expect the Palestinians to conform to (on the one hand) and the concessions and/or requirements incumbent on the Israelis to achieve peace. Will you comply with this request?

Constant snark toward MJR is certainly your right, but it is not very productive in addressing the main question of Peace in the Middle East.

So Pincus' stories of skepticism in 2002 and 2003 were 'buried deep in the paper'? And what prominence was given this 'smooth-over' story by Pincus RE the mis-handled(?) nukes.

And rating of reporters, it seems to me, is a game based on personal assessment and preferenceas well as consideration of skill, veracity and intelligence.

My comment on Pincus' story, at any rate, was based more on the fact that it is a WaPo production, not which reporter wrote it.

Strange co-incidence...almost! I once ate at a Mexican Restaurant in Omaha, NE, whose printer, in error, had listed 'Genuine Mexican MACHOS, Prepared to American Tastes'.

Not what I ordered...and I did NOT call the error to the waitress's attention.

"there was a flavor"...now, now, Mr. Berkowitz, you know by now that some (only some, BTW) of my posts need to have a 'grain of salt' to enhance the 'flavor'.
