  • The Real Story is if the FBI had him under such tight controls and surveillance they then actually WATCHED Him kill himself and did nothing to stop it. Why is that ? Who called this a suicide in the first place and can we get a second opinion ?

  • The irony of this is that the protections that Dems put in place for American Workers may actually be turned against the original intent and make it next to impossible to remove a under-qualified Immigration Judge or Lawyer.
I'm sure it will be worked out but what damage will have been done by then ? Our gov. has probably thousands of Neocons burrowed in just like those sleeper cells we used to hear so much about during the Cold War. Anyone who doesn't yet believe the partisan warfare of the last 15 yrs is as dangerous to democracy as the cold war was, either is deaf, dumb or blind. Until prosecutions start I won't believe anyone is serious.
Why are there no teeth in laws or criminal penalties for what Goodling and the others did ? Once again , no one will be held accountable. When do the Neocons stop being a privileged sect and have to face consequences ? ( oops better let the country heal it's pastisan divides, dont you know so we can all eat smores and sing campfire songs. "Now is not the time to point fingers", sound familiar ? Enough is enough. Investigate, indict, convict and imprison.)

  • Mukasey today called for Congress to issue a New AUMF. He appears to fear the current AUMF does not go far enough and could have expired, or will soon. This would cut the knees out from under Bush claims of authority based on the current AUMF. Congress has made numerous movements toward rescinding or canceling the current AUMF. The hearing should/ could get heated on this point if Congress picks up on this point of his speech.

  • Wasn't KBR once connected to KMG, and isn't KMG one of the contractors in Iraq ? I can't cite anything but my poor memory but bells are ringing.

  • I'm betting he got a real sweetheart deal to plead guilty and get this off the front pages. There are too many others that don't want to see a full blown trial as it would prove way too embarrassing.

  • How many requests for a investigation has Mukasey refused so far ? He has been asked to appoint Special Prosecutors numerous times and has yet to appoint a single one. The only difference between Gonzales and Mukasey is that Mukasey is doesn't tremble in fear when he tell Congress to go fuck itself. Mukasey is smart enough to know that no matter what laws he breaks the Dems won't hold him to account for it.

  • It has been revealed today that this prisoner slashed his wrists sometime in April and that neither his family or lawyer were told of this attempt. It was only found out when his atty. noticed the scars on his wrists.
This could be the reason to stop his prosecution for the time being.

Posted at May 20, 2008 3:44 PM in response to Why Was the 20th Hijacker Not Charged?

  • I have been reading the report for about a hr, skipping around a bit, and this report generally puts the FBI in a very rosy light. The amount of agents that say they actually witnessed any torture is very low and suspect imho. The report does detail some sickening uses of Torture by the DOD, starting around pg 200, or Chapter 8.

While it does tip-toe quite a bit, it is enough of a smoking gun that any decent prosecutor would have no problem not only getting indictments. Some of the techniques described brings a huge amount of shame on our country and should be more than enough to send this and the Bush Admin. to court, any court, including the Hague.

This country can no longer claim it does not torture, not that anyone has believed those claims for quite a while now. It is time to change the narrative that no one will ever be brought to Justice. It is up to you and I to make sure they are brought before the Judges, Investigated, tried, Judged, and Imprisoned if found guilty.

  • Under the International Laws any country can go after Bush et al. In a hearing the other day held by Rep. Nadler the whole process was discussed. The hearing has been shown on Cspan a few times since then and can also be watched online. Use the search term "Chairman Nadler" at Cspan Dot Org. and look for the hears. Majorie Cohen, Pres. of the Lawyers Guild lays it all out very clearly.
