  • gharlane,

I had to think twice before I decided to respond to your summary of my comments and the only thing I can say to you is, damn.

Damn, you're intellectual, academic assessments of my statements comes from the mind of a person who has never walked in the shoes of a black person, experienced the debilitating racism, and then wants us to take a breath as we analytically diagnose why we (Blacks) are Obama (in particular) in some many words, "get over it."

As you are well aware when you so condescendingly educate me regarding the trials of Jews in four or five years, you know I was talking about the campagin to terminate Jews in Germany. Yes, Jews have suffered longer than four or five years, as Blacks have suffered throughout the world as well, but the particular horrors I speak of occurred in THIS country.

If you have to be convinced as to why the reverend has the right to say what he does in order for you to accept Obama or at least want him to distance himself from this pastor because of the pastor's beliefs, then maybe you aren't as enlightened as you think and may be you should support Hillary.

I am sure she will be pleased with your support, after all, we just can't have a Black man telling that much truth in America, its just not allowed.

  • I'll say what Obama cannot.

    WTF.

What did the reverend say that was not true about what is happening to Obama or the war?

Does the truth hurt that much that he must be silenced?

This is the reverend's point of view along with millions of other African Americans. We didn't support this war and said so repeatedly, yet when polls were taken of support for the war, as usual we were conveniently left out. Sound familiar? Now the Reverend speaks truth to power, hasn't called anybody a name, as an american citizen can call this country what he wants, and the media is making it look like Obama said it! Again, WTF!!!!!

This country can't even come to grips with admitting its horrific history about slavery and how a whole race of people were enslaved, brutalized, murdered, humiliated, and used not for four or five years as the Jews were but for TWO CENTURIES!!!!

This is nothing more than a veiled attempt by Hillary and her supporters in a tit for tat game because Geraldine Ferraro who is actively campaigning for Hillary could not stomach the fact that this man is actually winning. So long as he was just a show horse to compliment Hillary and the Democrats to show how diverse we were, it would have only been a matter of time before he was discharged and told to go back to his "place" until needed again. Didn't work out that way and now to win something that she didn't earn she is using the old race card. Sound familiar?

I am sick of it and irritated when the posters to this blog demand that Obama apologize, denounce, reject or whatever. For what!???

I'm sick of all of you.

  • When you visit with members of the committee (Republicans) before you make your testimony (Clemmons)signing autographs and being fawned over by decrepit old men, many seeking a campaign "donation" what what you have expected for them to say?

Why is it that when these old farts have the opportunity to do the right thing, say the right thing, or come close--they go the other way.

In their efforts to support Clemmons, only makes his guilt more evident. Why in the world if you need support would you ask one of these morally, ethically-corrupt, lying, cheating and thieving a$$holes for help?

    Geesh.

  • This man is talking out of both sides of his mouth. Now lets see if ESPN, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and all the other media will breathlessly report every 10 seconds on his guilt as they cheerlead for his prosecution. You know the same way they did for Barry Bonds.

Oops, you say there's a difference, pray tell what could it be?

  • All this academic parsing of what Roberts meant is aggravating to say the least! Spit it out, the man is an educated dyed-in-the-wool bigot.
If as a black person (which I am) and you can pull yourself up by your bootstraps and "make something of yourself" as these people profess to want for me, in spite of all their attempts to the contrary. Then I have succeeded in accomplishing my goals, and as a result should now become a member of the Republican Party, the same party which by its laws, customs, and ideology has told me otherwise. Its attempts to circumvent by every guideline, principle and any other measure needed to keep me in my "place."
To constantly tell me about the party of Lincoln when the Republican Party of today pretty much shits in my face on a daily basis with the likes of Clarence Thomas, Scholzman, Gonzalez, Cheney, I could go on but you get the picture. Each put in their area of expertise to keep me from suceeding by rationalizing their actions to a populace eager to hear why the promises made only 40 years ago have been fulfilled in spades (my bad).
So quit intellecutalzing something you don't understand and never will.
Those conservative evangelicals should be proud today, little did they know they were getting a twofer when these two vile people were appointed to the Supreme Court; they are not only looking out for their "moral" issues, but are taking care of the good Americans as well.
Now you good Christians I wait to hear from you regarding this decision and how it is the moral and right thing to do.

    You make me sick.

  • I'm a new poster to this blog and I have been reading all the comments to Harold Ford. Though not as erudite, sophisticate, witty as some, I would probably be a little more blunt in my assessment of Harold Ford: A handkerchief head, sell-out, egotistical opportunist, who cares little for the actual people who elected him while he served in office. He pandered to whatever group he encountered changing his mask at will. When you vote for bills that negatively impact your own constituents to win influence to further your own career by sacrificing them at the alter of the DLC to "go along to get along" you have not only shown contempt and disregard for them that brought you to the party, but maybe that's what the DLC is looking for; a stab-you-in-the back DINO.

If this is what the DLC is offering as their new progressive face that will be presented to the public -- then I seriously would question exactly what it is these people have in mind for the "little people" who actually do the voting.

Quit listening to these people, every time they tell us to compromise, we lose and by hiring people like Harold Ford who used his own grandmother to try to win over people who wouldn't give him a second glance, indicates how low this DLC is - is.
