My money's on the investigation being completed now so that the DOJ can claim nothing reached the level required for indictment, before a new administration comes into office. No way will Bush waste pardons on former relatively minor DOJ political appointees, loyal "Bushies" or not. He'll save them for White House cronies.

I agree with Grover - it's his decision to fly out and meet up with Hagee to accept the endorsement that creates a problem for McCain. It would make a nice picture for an attack ad, and make it difficult for McCain to try and put any distance between him and Hagee.
I disagree with some of the earlier posters who think that anyone who would consider voting for McCain won't care about this. It plays right into a larger picture of McCain as a sellout to the worst Republican party special interests.

"President Bush on Thursday stood by his demand for legal protection for phone companies that help the government eavesdrop on suspected terrorists..."
This statement captures why I am so angry at the MSM (and why I visit sites like TPM). Because of the appalling lack of checks on the Bush administration's lawlessness, we don't know who they tried to listen to. That is the crux of the controversy, yet the AP article takes on the Bush administration's water and says it's eavesdropping on "suspected terrorists". The article does this despite the fact that this administration has no credibility, and that the evidence points to this program's primary goal (at least initially) being to eavesdrop on whoever they want, whenever they want. The uninformed will think that the evil Democrats are preventing the government from protecting us, based on this article. Grrrr...
[Deep breath] I get angry every time I read or think about this stuff.

Valdron,
Great 12:28 post!
Anyone who tries to excuse "pimping" as common slang and no big deal doesn't understand what it means. As common slang it is used to refer to objects, not human beings.
In fact, it was the obvious unprofessionalism of Mr. Shuster's comment that really caught my attention. It completely undermined any point he was trying to make. What seems obvious to me is that if Mr. Shuster's grasp of the English language is so poor that when left without a teleprompter he needs to fall back on slang, and slang that doesn't accurately describe his point at that, he should really consider a profession that doesn't put him on television.

Go get 'em Henry! It won't make a difference, they'll just obfuscate until the next administration is in office, but maybe this will help keep Johnson and his cronies so busy they won't be able to do anymore damage.
