  • Stop worrying. Presidents go overseas, give speeches. The one of biggest doubt that voters have about Obama is doubts about his experience on foreign policy. All he really has to do is a) give a good speech, which the man can do in his sleep, and b) not say anything that can be portrayed by the RNC and Faux Noise as critical of the US. That's a little trickier but the man is smart, so he'll be fine.

  • If Lieberman outs himself as a Republican, the Dems do not lose control of the Senate. The reason why the Reps did lose control in '01 when Jim Jeffords went from R to I was because Gore was VP and President of the Senate, an hence the tie-breaking vote, when the Senate started its session in early Jan '01.

  • It's been a tough, closely fought nomination battle, and it clearly was hard for Hillary to finally face the music and recognize this wasn't her time. This letter shows that she's done what she had to do to come to terms with the loss, and I believe and expect her to work hard to put Barack Obama into the WH in Jan.

Let's face it. We'll all have to work hard to bring the party together and continue to reach out to independents. But in the end, will the son of a Kenyan and a Kansan beat the Green Jello Man? Yes, he can!

  • Quite possibly the worst speech since vocal cords were invented. Embarrassingly awful. Obama has made it clear that he is going to run a campaign on ideas, so they probably won't use the speech. But I wish they would. Hopefully, McCain will continue to deliver these clunkers across the country until the voting public begs for mercy.

  • 1. Spending a week campaigning in OH, where I graduated HS and my parents still live. My parents are in their 80s and will be working their fingers to the bone for Sen. Obama! They are an inspiration.

    2. Contributed when his speech ended.

    3. I'm avatar challenged at the moment, so I feel unqualified.

As a personal note, Yoda, I want to thank you for your insights and humor in during this amazing primary season. I look forward to more!

  • I could believe that, except for all intents and purposes, there are no voters left, and even if HRC did win Montana and or SD, which she won't, it wouldn't matter. She needs to make her case to the supers, who are clearly abandoning her, and the RBC. I don't see how she would have thought that this sort of remark would help her with those key people.

Point is, she could have suspended her campaign at any point and if Barack had gotten hurt, sick, or otherwise become unable to get the nod, she would have been the nominee, no question about it. So, to me, it doesn't make sense that she's stayed in hoping for ... what she spoke about.

  • Is there anyone here who believes that HRC made the original Kennedy assassination remarks as part of some strategy? If so, what was the strategy? Was this supposed to help her with superdelegates? The members of the Rules and Bylaws Committee? The voters of PR, Montana and South Dakota?

To be clear, I'm a Obama supporter. Ii found her Commander-in-Chief threshold remarks appalling, selfish and hurtful to the party she claims allegiance to. This latest thing I think was just dumb. I know she did it before, but I think it was dumb then too, but nobody noticed. I agree she could be handling the aftermath better.

But until someone gives me a plausible scenario in what way she thought the remark was going to help her with someone or some group that would help her get the nomination, I choose to believe it was just a dumb remark.

  • "My friends, you may be asking yourself, why should I trust John McCain on this new prediction? After all, when it comes to Iraq he's been wrong so often before. He predicted an easy victory in 2003, said that Baghdad market was safe and so on. And then denied having done so. Well, my friends, you can trust me on this new prediction because I'm a Straight Talker(tm) and I travel on a bus called the Straight Talk Express!"
