Ok, I'm British, not American - and the one thing above all else i cannot fathom in this election (or many of them before it for that matter) is this:

Whats the big frickin deal with the military??

Its not as if your nation is Kim Jong-Il/North Korea?!
Your supposed to be the land of freedom/expression etc, so whats with this obsessive militarisation of governing?
Isn't that what Patraus and the pentagon etc are for?

Being able to fly a F18 has very little to do with diplomacy, economics and policy - the actual stuff of leadership.

And this old coot McCain (who probably has a 30% + chance of dying in the next eight years anyway) seems to have a very dim understanding of the above.

If this election was held any other western nation, people wouldnt care, theyd just say "POW - Hm, thats nice....sooooo whats your plan got in it for me again?"...

Calm down Joe, their silly ads will mostly fall on deaf ears anyway.
Relax on count of:
a) Most people will already have a good of idea for who they'll vote for.
b) People are quite used to mud-slinging ads (& McCains arent even that great)
c) Obama can outspend McCain in ads anyway.
