i know that it is wrong to not finish reading the whole piece before commenting but I find that i have to do so right now. What has gotten to me is Mr Johnsons' comment regarding OBLs' inability to sustain offensive capabilities.
I can't believe that a person with Mr Johnsons' skills and knowledge can so blindly overlook the simple fact that OBL doesn't need to be able to sustain offensive operations anywhere! For crying out loud, I realize that not every second of every day since 9/11 has been focused on bin-laden but what is the primary driving force behind just about every decision that we all make everywhere? obl has succeeded (with the help of our gov) in altering our lives forever in this country. we appear to be willing to give up parts of what has made this country so great for the past approx 275 years. stop! don't need to keep harping on the same garbage Mr J- I have too much respect for all that you have done for us allready. don't ruin it. the monstors reside at 1600 pennsylvania ave as well as inside each and every one of us. until we decide to standup and take back this country by removing the monstors, all we will do is cower and wait. Not a happy thought Mr Johnson. just watch what happens over the next two to three days now that obl has put out a new tape (if it is his voice??)
the monstors want the 06 elections and they will stop at nothing Mr J. Keep ythat in mind and don't forget that a terrorist need only instil fear in order to win. JUST INSTILL FEAR!!!!!

My father told me a long time ago that you should always try and know what your enemies are thinking so this morning I turned on to Fox and Friends to see their take on yesterday's election results and boy was my pop right on target. NOT A WORD! The first twenty minutes( which was actually painful) and NOT A SINGLE WORD!

; Thats all folks!

what is slowly, very slowly happening is the simple fact that the sleeping giant that is the us citizenry is strting to stir. the defeat of tabor is just one more example of this stirring. All across this country we can observe examples that give us at least the hope. Indictments, fissures in the solid block voting block of the gop. The growing awareness that the fundies are beginning to publically embarass themselves. I guess that the word now is really two words: patience and Pressure. I Sen Reid is really steadily pressuring and if we all can stand behind him and if the 43 other senators step up and create the solid backing that they are capable of presenting, then those moderate gop sens might just step over the line.MAYBE.
But if nothing comes of this action right now, we will have put down some pretty strong markers for the coming two elections.

As long as the US remains in Iraq, the insurgency will continue. Simple and can be debated all day and night but it wont make any difference. All of the pontificating and intellectual games mean nothing. I do constantly wonder however why anyone willing to study even superficially the behavior of this admin has to see that the gop has simply taken the position that they can do no wrong.
When any leadership reaches the position that they know best, look out.
I do hope that someone is developing a list of all of the conservative pundits and legislators comments BEFORE they are ringed in by the threat and begging of the administration.
These quotes shout be posted regularly everywhere!
The web; the newspapers; quoted on every talk show;posted on billboards across the country;tatooed on foreheads! Since the Iraqis really find themselves once again in the position of having any say in their future, this constitution is seen as just one more example of the US imposing !!!!!!!
A simple examination of the history of the imposition on a civilian population by a external invading source has Always led to failure!

Way back in my rapidly fading memory i seem to recall one of my history teachers discussing the concept of the "benevolent dictator" and i have been wondering why nobody has used this term when discussing the gop desires for the new usa! Drown the constitution in the bathtub or emasculate is in such a way so as to make it innoperable and substitute the churches desire to care for their own personal flocks!
Now we see another example of this desire when we examine the newly offered concept of vouchers to assist the poor "refugees" of the two great storms! So, as they( the newly crowned leaders class) begin to usurp the independant countries of europe into their growing web of "Enlightened Peoples", I guess that what the new ruling class probably better watch out because I remember also that that same teacher also pointed out that a people can only be pushed so far before the S hits the fan! Strong Europe my big fat tush. This is just one more attempt to broaden the scope of the benevolent dictatorships lust for control and it too will fail!

Ms Harmon-- wouldn't a better title for your commentary be "A View From Iraq"? Considering that it appears that you were limited to the green zone and either chose not to visit the real Iraq or was not permitted to visit the real Iraq, for you to postulate on what is necessay for the "Success" of what is going on in this country is just one more embarassing image that will be seem throughtout the Islamic world.
Thankyou for you effort. Tragically however, SUCCESS is determined by not just the invading country but also by the invaded country.
