  • Ok, once there was a country that hated us, really really bad. They hated us so bad, they called us names, and developed nuclear weapons to kill us 10,000 times each. They pointed these weapons at us, and still do.

We didn't ignore them, that would be dumb. We negotiated with them, over decades; and now that country is not considered a direct enemy anymore. That country was the USSR.

Of course we have to talk to our enemies. Anyone who says we can never talk to our enemies is an idiot. I can't believe our political dialog is so simplistic.

I am just afraid our mad (as in mad hatter (too much mercury)) leaders will bomb Iran; and who knows what else? It seems to me that Israel is the tail wagging the US dog now, so whatever they really want is probably Bush's policy. They don't want us to talk to Iran. Look for Lieberman to jump on Obama too.

  • I think Obama is going to be President. McCain will not win; all the Swift Boating in the world won't help. In fact, I think that the American public is completely sick and tired of DeLay/Rove attack politics. They will recognize it, and are already voting it down.

Swift Boating Obama will have a rebound effect: it will make him more attractive, unless he loses it and blasts them. Then they have him on their turf.

Unfortunately, Clinton is now doing her best to "raise doubts" about Obama, even as he is winning the nomination. She is doing her best to swift boat him too.

  • Just what America needed, a "new" Justice system; I guess the old one wasn't any good. All that pesky habeas corpus mumbo-jumbo got in the way.

  • Perhaps there used to be a time when actual reality mattered, and there was some sense of right and wrong. For example, when you are caught lying, you lose credibility. There used to be a thing called shame and credit (or discredit).

Bush and the Republicans have shown that these things don't count. It is quite alright to blatantly lie, get caught, and just keep lying. There is no shame. Officials (like Libby, Oliver North, etc) would be caught lying, and would have to bow out of public life shamed and discredited.

That doesn't happen anymore with this Administration. Used to be an 18 minute gap was a big problem; now, 5 million missing emails is not a problem.

  • Ok, I think these are the facts:

    - Obama has won a lot more states that HRC

    - Obama has a lead in delegates

    - HRC, even if she wins big in all the remaining states, cannot catch up

So, why is she still running? She is hoping that Obama will have a blowout, and she doesn't mind sprinkling some nails on the road to get it. Or, she plans to manipulate the process somehow.

  • I was very unhappy with Nader in 2000; when he said the two parties are the same, I thought "bullshit". Gore would not have invaded Iraq, no torture, no illegal wiretapping, no "rendition", no loss of habeas corpus, no stop-loss, no $12 billion a week going into the Republican war machine.

But with Ms. Clinton, I am not so sure. Nader may have a point ...

  • General Robert E. Lee complained that the Confederate congress was unable “to do anything except eat peanuts and chew tobacco, while my army is starving….”

    Good ol' America!

Congress has a remedy that has been provided to deal with this kind of treasonous and illegal action. But they won't use it.

    Sigh.

  • "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Oh, wait, scratch that. Nevermind, must have gotten the wrong country.
