Clinton and Tuzla: The Symptom and the Disease
Clinton's Bosnia tale is a perfect fit for modern media. easily summarized, sensationally brash, and complete with video.but this idiotic lie isn't her biggest problem on the larger subject, though it does point to some psychological issues smart voters should...more »

i understand why Obama can't be more forceful on this issue, but i really wish the greater progressive movement would stop being so chickenshit about discussing it. we've seemed to learn that trying to out-macho Republicans on our greater foreign policy isn't feasible or in the country's interests; so why are we still doing it on Israel?
there needs to be a serious talk about our relationship with Israel in this country's political forum, but thus far the AIPAC has largely managed to prevent that from happening by labeling those who decry some of the more deplorable Israeli offenses antisemitic. i wish Obama was able to go in and take on this problem as honestly as he does nearly everything else, but i know that in his position that isn't possible. yet it's still a missed opportunity and wasted time.

all competitive elections in states that Obama won overwhelmingly?
Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alaska. just coincidence?

McCain is so doomed. why doesn't he understand this card has just been played too much over the past 8 years? even everyday Americans are tired of chest-thumping, pseudo-macho foreign policy, and some are even starting to see through the "foreign policy credentials means whoever is more hawkish" meme that McCain, and Hillary Clinton, are continuations of.
it's so easy to tie this sort of outlook on foreign policy to the Bush administration, because that's what it has practiced at every step, in fact it has inundated our entire political discourse with it. the only problem for McCain is, people don't WANT more Bush foreign policy.
it doesn't matter if his proposals are slightly more progressive than G.W.'s; his tenor and framing of the issues is EXACTLY THE SAME. people notice that. he's making this easy for Obama.

this is goddamn infuriating.
i'm really disappointed in the intelligence of the American people if this polling is accurate.
George W. Bush has been without question the worst President in the history of the United States. the abolishment of habeas corpus, the initiation of a war with a faraway country for no reason whatsoever that is costing taxpayers billions of dollars and thousands of sons and daughters, the utter inability and unwillingness to deal with potent issues facing the country like climate change or mounting debt; the list goes on and on. these are things that HAVE BEEN DONE TO AMERICANS.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright hasn't DONE anything to Americans. his actions don't effect them in any way. what he has said and done has been, on balance, GOOD for the country; in his military service and leading his church in community service and organizing.
John McCain has actively supported George Bush's policies, indeed has promoted them and voted for them in the U.S. Senate. he plans to continue many of them should he be elected.
what has Barack Obama done that can in any way be causally linked to views of his former pastor Jeremiah Wright? oh that's right. nothing.
how fucking stupid can Americans be?

this attempt at logic is idiotic. using the same formula, we should advocate for Obama to pick President Bush as his VP.
the fact is, it's time to turn the page on all of it. the Clintons, the Bushes, and the entire left v. right dichotomy. Hillary Clinton embodies counterproductive partisanship and petty politics more than any person in either party outside of the current administration. we want to move past that, not invite it to play a more significant role.

holy shit, Obama has an insurmountable lead in delegates? this is NEWS!
welcome to 2 months ago. everyone with a brain stem saw it, but you "news outlets" kept trying to pretend it was an actual race still. it's not. it was over after February. i'd have a lot more respect for TPM if you had just accepted that fact.
