"Not for nothing, but it just seems to be nothing but needless hand-wringing - what you call selling out, I call trying to win an election." I'm just curious, if this turns out to be a real, basic policy reversal, and Barak Obama turns out to not to take the amendments to the Constitution seriously, how would you know the difference?
And when did greatly impinging or outright reversal of stance become only "...what you call selling out, I call trying to win an election."?

"We did it better"? LisB, I wouldn't have expected that tone of condescension from you.

acanuck, why are you willing to cut him slack on this? Isn't president of the United States a "big person's job" type of job. I always thought that to be the case, didn't you?

Try not to be a condescending puke, it detracts from your argument. It doesn't make them any more or less valid, but it certainly makes people less likely to listen to you.

I hate to tell you this, bud, but part of the political process is letting your "representatives" know when they have done something that you like, or something that you DISLIKE, as well. It's called "feedback" in systemic terms. Check out some literature on self-correcting systems, and see if you can find any successful systems models that don't require the use of feedback.
Just because we like him better than McCain, doesn't mean that he shouldn't strive to do his best, and part of his best should be listening to people. And, as he's running for president, he should be showing his LEADERSHIP ABILITIES off, shouldn't he? He hasn't lead on this, and he should.
He needs to show that if someone else is going to start a fight that can't be stopped, that he's willing to fight for what's right, and win.

Shit, I'm left-handed, too! What do I do now? Do I have to cut the sucker off?

Steve, you need to grow up, man. If you don't see the difference between Bush and Obama, you need to wake up, too.

I have to go with the Mrs. on this one, I think that they're doing a wonderful job of keeping money from the Republicans. More power to them.

The truth is, anybody's honesty can be doubted, and is. The other truth is, except for being a POW, McCain was a poor soldier and a poor flier, as well. Is that mean? No, it's just true. Actually look at McCain's record and you'll figure that out. While he was a POW, who couldn't do much of anything, he was great.
But let's get real here, people (about this, Obama already has), the only people that you could hope to peel off of McCain by this tactic, would only believe it if they looked into it themselves and found it out, and they won't.
Clark could easily have said, being in the military in a non-commanding role doesn't give experience that is useful toward being the commander-in-chief and he would have been OK. It's too bad Clark isn't as smart as Obama about this.

Clark is obviously right, and he didn't state it too badly either, but the discussion had no place in the campaign. He could have said that he respected John McCain's service, but no matter how exemplary McCain's service was, it didn't make his policies any more right, and they're just plain wrong. Pretty simple.
