  • Mukasey knows how to work this game: appoint one of the DOJ's hundreds of flying monkeys to investigate. "We're looking into it," while of course the point will be to make it go away. Mukasey is a maestro of plausible deniability.

  • Dear god, don't even get me started on that insufferable ass. Even my parents -- card-carrying Republicans -- had to turn off the tube whenever she came on. So pompous and smarmy! Not to mention colossally wrong about everything. See? You got me all riled up.

  • "Breezy?" There's nothing breezy about the email exchange or the tone in which it was written, given the subject matter. The men are discussing the nature of heroism vis a vis the death of a soldier.

Fournier makes a straw apology, to coin a phrase, because he can't bring himself to address the real reason why the email is so troubling: he wanted to be Rove's friend, not a detached observer.

It would be interesting to read pieces he filed on and around that day and the days that followed. I bet they're very breezy.

  • The only thing Americans can do is just hope that Bush chooses not to break any more laws before he leaves office. That's it -- hope. Because there is no more law enforcement, and there is no legal recourse ... for anything. If you disagree, prove it.

  • Waxman has been emasculated almost as many times as Leahy. He is absolutely no match for these people, and gets laughed at over and over and over again.

  • Democrats are congenitally submissive. There isn't a single one who could even possibly take on Mukasey, let alone Bush or Cheney.

I feel especially sorry for Waxman since his motion to hold Mukasey in contempt is going to go down in humiliating flames.

Is there anything more cringe-inducing than constant public emasculation?
