A quick look at Justin's (mirrored) facebook page reveals that his email name his "hoplitejustin," an informative glimpse into his political philosophy. The hoplites were infantrymen who fought on behalf of the Greek city-state, but not as members of a conscripted army. According to answer.com:
The hoplite's presence on the battlefield was a reflection of his own free status in the polis community and thus reinforced his privileged position as a free yeoman farmer and voting citizen. Hoplite assemblies alone decided when and where to fight, and sought such engagements to protect their own land and families. Originally, hoplites, who provided their own weapons and armour and met strict property qualifications regulating military service, comprised little more than half the adult population of their city states. Pitched and near ritual infantry collisions during the day and in summer reflected their own parochial interests in keeping warfare amateurish, uncomplicated, and thus non-disruptive to the agrarian population at large.
Add this to his belief that "God is a republican," membership in a group called "Democracy Bad, Republic Good," some hardcore xenophobia, and you can start to get a pretty rich picture of this kid's worldview.

Is there not the smell of professional misconduct in Yoo's decision to author a memo on behalf of the Office of Legal Council and allow it to be transmitted to the President without first being vetted by the Attorney General? Is this not why the Justice Department's Office of Professional Responsibility is currently investigating Yoo?
Dean Edley's defense of Yoo as an "advisor" to the president misstates the nature of Yoo's position and of the Office of Legal Council. Yoo was a legal councillor, not an advisor, to the Attorney General (not the President), and as such was embedded in both a professional and administrative chain of command. By collaborating directly with David Addington and bypassing both his direct supervisor and the AG, Yoo actively subverted the functions of his office, a clear attempt to bypass the protections put in place to prevent the legal rubber stamping of which he is now accused.
