Clintons: Liberals?
I was coming to this conclusion also, reading the comments on TPM about HRC NOT running for VP.The Conclusion on the thread was that the Clintons showed very poor political acumen throughout the whole race. Yes there were surges in...more »

Chris Bowers for Obama
I really liked the reasoning here. The separation between BHO and HRC on Telcom/Net Neutrality is very persuasive. HRC seems totally a creature of Telco contributions and will give them free rides.Barack Obama For President by: Chris Bowers Wed Mar 26,...more »

Exactly, even gunslingers end up being on the bad end of the drop.
I'm sure the trolls imagine themselves whipping out a gun (while strolling arm and arm with a significant other) and blasting dude away - even though dude has the drop on them.
I am all for guns. Mostly hunting. But if the last 30-40 years have proven anything, RIghtWingers do one HELL OF A JOB mindlessly arguing things they are wrong about. They successfully have suspended debate, or railroaded debate with their fantasyland ideas. That they are total whackjobs, and their ideas worth nothing....has not stopped them from being successful at denying global warming and basic human rights, believing in god and abstinence, etc

how about Holy Joe LIEberman "coordinating" with the McCain camp. hell, McThuselah doesn't seem to be able to go anywhere without LIEberman being there to prompt him and correct him....then LIEberman goes and makes some campaign stops for McThuselah, and then Holy Joe goes and attacks BHO and claims he is a terrrrst lover and is hurting Israel. What about LIEbermans connections with McCains camp?

Yeah, and you go to take a KBR shower and get electrocuted because they have the plumbing accidentally charged. Then KBR tells the grieving family that the service member took an electrical gizmo into the shower, that is why he died.
There have been 12? fatalities already just in the showers

Just another reason to end the war. We are being blackmailed, hijacked, and ransomed by our own corporate giants.

What a country.
We manouver 95% of our people into work-based health insurance. Health care gets taken over by corporations starting in earnest in 1980. The loose confederacy of board-certified professionals and practitioners goes corporate, supplanting bean-counters to lead an enslaved group of doctors and nurses. Medical costs soar higher, faster than anything except maybe modern oil.
Corporations then manouver to change every law about providing health care, stiff the govt. on payroll and SS and Medicare taxes, and raid your pension while they're at it. Oh, and they probably declared bankruptcy so they could fire everybody, strangle the union, and terminate pensions. SOP since buuush walked in.
Corporations go after our biggest pools of money...and guess what....they are all commonwealth-everyman pools of money. The govt. treasury, vastly outspending the rest of the world militarily, so the biggest war-profit guzzlers are of course making a killing with their fine-tuned business skills....plundering our military budget. Next big Pool....SS. There is always IRAs and 401Ks to manipulate and skim. Nothing like every working american putting all their money into corporate hands (tax free!), paycheck by paycheck. I am sure those Big Finance types will do what is right for avg. Joe! Such a great system, we should privatize SS and put all our huge pool of cash in these honest Buzinezzmenz Hands! Sure!
Every american, with his face stuck on an Oil/Gasoline nipple....that's a pretty large Pool. Suddenly the forces of supply/demand aren't so important when there's a killing to be made, a US govt. so sympathetic and malleable to the oilmen's interest that there is no crime that they can commit where they will be held to account. Why make money hand over fist, when you can triple that with oilmen in the Prez and VP chairs?
Basically, you live in a country of laws and the constitution (at least every american DID) unless you work for a corporation. Then all bets are off, your constitutional rights do not apply, they OWN you and can snoop on you, and demand drug tests and loyalty oaths and non-competition pacts, cut off your healthcare, whatever.
And Corporations these days do not make money by making goods, products, services, or making better mouse-traps.
They make money by swindling. Government contracts, defense spending, war-profiteering, union busting, fee raising, making sure all our money get's scooped into huge piles which they end up over-seeing. Then they steal it all, pin it on one or two patsy's, and lawyer their way out of it. Hell, under this administration you prob. won't even get a letter of reprimand.Corporations are now the root of all evil. They are SuperPredators stalking the American Landscape and devouring everything in their paths. Sure, there was always some rich bastards ruining it for everyone throughout history. But it was small-time compared to these Global juggernauts. They are behind our new Police States, our surveillance society. Eye Retina Recog, Face recog, biometrics, dna, health insurance DNA and medical opportunities....all of this being leveraged by HighTech Behemoths whose sworn Corporate Oath is to wage inhuman wars on the populace. Their only goal is to suck the juice out of everyone of us until all that is left is a dried husk.
Anyone wish to claim otherwise? Anybody want to tell me how comptetion is good, and that corporations are only providing services that greedy, fat, lazy couch-borne americans are too stupid to do for themselves? Anyone else want to tell me about how finance/commerce is just another natural law, overseen by the invisible guiding hand of universal goodness and tranquility?

That is a highly significant point.
Sexism worked FOR HRC a lot more than it worked against her.Posted at June 16, 2008 4:46 PM in response to Was The Media Unfair To Hillary? Here's Our Rundown.

Remember too, that most of what BHO had to fight was originated in HRC camp, or highly trumpeted by them at every opportunity. BHO did almost NONE of the attacks that Greg lists above, and he obviously did NOT echo these attacks and kept his people from doing so.
HRC was shooting from the hip, everything including the kitchen sink. Hers was a far more desperate attack mode, and was highly harmful to the Dem party and their eventual Nominee. I also suggest that the HRC campaign dominated the news. They set the tone, they got EVERY opportunity to come on every show. They started a lot of the shit rolling downhill. They called the tune, mediawise, moreso than ANY Dem in BigMedia history. She was allowed to respond to everything. Too bad for her the truth was ugly and the muck-ups were pretty bad. Yet they got ALL the opportunity to respond, more than any Dem ever gets. And again, it must be said that her negative press coverage was mainly from self-inflicted gaffes.
Sure, there was a tone and touchiness to this campaign....like no other. Every word by pundits was dissected. With a black man and a white woman running, everyone was on eggshells. HRC played the victim card SO HARD I think it turned a lot of people off. BHO just flicked it off his shoulders. I think that won a lot of people over.
So yes, there were mutterings in the media that were not appropriate, regarding HRC. But, BHO was not dealt a fair hand and it was much worsened by HRC knifing up her own Party Member, in ways BHO refused to do. And BHO has dealt with being overwhelmed by HRC MediaMoles, he was never calling the tune for the media the way the HRC army was able to dominate the Press Relations. And there has been plenty of racism. Prob. stronger than the sexism, but history has shown how that is always a secret, hidden undercurrent and rarely gets voiced. Somehow, sexism is still somewhat OK...but racism is not spoken aloud. For example, just count how many times a white guy can say "Bitch" in everyday life (movies, TV, Music, goofing with pals) and then see how often white guy says "nigger" or makes racial challenges. Bitch wins overwhelmingly. It's more OK to be a little sexist, publicly, than it is to be a little racist.

I think I saw, in appalachia, white men vote for a woman....even if voting for a woman was the last thing they thought they would do.
They normally would have been flocking to Obama (if he was white). This told me that racism trumped sexism. They would rather vote for a white woman than a black man. I saw the interviews, I heard what they said. Yes, they were right in HRC's wheelhouse and she had much better name recognition. I am not saying EVERYONE in appalachia...but where BHO should have done a lot better and from the comments these voters were making....plenty of white dems could not pull the lever for a black man. And anti-feminist white men would vote for white woman before they would vote for a black man.
I am also sure anti-feminist black men would more likely vote for a black woman, than a white person.
These are blatant generalizations, but statistically there MUST be people out there that would vote more strongly based on race rather than gender.I know white people right in my hometown, who I thought were very left. They hated buush. Been ranting now for years. But now that BHO is the nominee they are suddenly at a loss, and a few even blurted out that they can't vote for a black guy. One shilly-shallied and said he didn't think he could trust him, and muttered and sputtered back into silence. I knew what he was thinking.
I think a WHOLE LOT of fervor and late HRC support was coming from people who did not want to be confronted by the narrowing of our candidates down to one - who is black.
Whatever racism that I harbor, it never even slowed me down in getting behind BHO. I guess I worried over elect-ability and the same racism I know exists amongst a sizable percent of the white voters...but I personally have no qualms about pulling the lever for him. I would as willingly pull the lever for a woman, it's just that HRC is a neocon in sheeps clothing. She is a corporatist. Wholly beholden to big money interests, and she wasted her 8 years in the senate, didn't do a damn thing for anybody except buush.
So I think the article about Your White Is Showing has some merit. It certainly doesn't describe ALL women HRC hold-outs. I understand and empathize with women voters who really had their chips "all-in" for HRC. But I know that a small but important % of them would rather not vote for a black man. Understandable.
Perhaps the MAN part was also galling them. Understandable.
Wanting to smack your child is also understandable. Doesn't mean it's your best course of action.Posted at June 12, 2008 4:04 PM in response to Your Whiteness is Showing: An Open Letter to Certain White Women Who Are Threatening to Withold Support From Obama in November.

It truly is the responsibility of the voters.
You almost can't blame the scumbag scavengers of corporatism for being scumbags....
as much as to blame what should be an interested and vigilant PEOPLE who make sure the pols they vote for aren't crooks and corporate bagmen.Unfortunately, the PEOPLE are informed by a corporate media and the glitziest, richest, best hair folks who do the Corporate TV Glam HighSchool King/Queen usually get to winning the elections.

Political Lilliputians is right.
I mean, how can a lickspittle, corporatist flack-pol actually appear to be a brave leader? How many of our bought-politicians are leading us all a grand, merry charade? They are actually just Busines ButtBoys yet we see them as heroic, straight-spined, far-seeing protectors of the people?
