for chrissakes just take a looksie at agent jack bauer to understand our apathy to torture...a rip-roaring adventure of a show, no doubt, but has anyone else out there ever wondered how could so many of our "hollywood activists" end up in a show which glorifies torture, shoves the word, ahem, terrorist down our gullets , and perpetuates the manichaen world view so espoused by pres. bush and co.?  its the old chicken-or-the-egg routine: are these values that we as a modern-day society engender and are thus manifested in our entertainment? or, is there something far more sinister at work; "old men" in a backroom manipulating our gobal empathy at every turn? by the way, which network airs "24"?...
