Don't discount Obama's service as a community organizer,,,,,, I know the south side, and much of it is a warzone in more ways than one. The man has paid his dues and doesn't have to take a back seat to anyone, least of all McCain.
For those who missed it, check out the Bacevich interview on the PBS archive that was on Bill Moyers Friday last,,,, especially the parts on militarization. Obama, not McCain, is the one to be able to comprehend the situation and begin the generational changes necessary to restore the Republic from its imperial captivity.

Such a delightful trip into yesteryear,,,,, McCain stoops to wallow in the delights of the old Red Scare ploy,,,,,, next shall we endure the Yellow Peril - great Olympics ad - or the Beastly Hun buck and wing of a century ago?

Should this ad work well in SW Ohio,,,,, the same tack should also work well in Kentucky. Similar issues and all that,,,,,,,,, East Kentucky out migrants are the majority ethnic group in SW Ohio, and keep regular contact with clans and family back in the 'hollers'. Will be interesting to see how much of this crosses the river.

Curious,,,, but there's a theme here. PBS ran a series of, I think, American Esperience, on Monday nights, on recent US Presidents. The one on Bush41 seems a parallel to McCain,,,, they tell the story of how Bush, in order to win, adopted the tacky attack motief,,,,, just like McCain is using, on pressure from a new set of advisors and 'the base'. If the episode is on archive at PBS, it is indeed an enlightening and morst curious tale to tell.

And speaking of ignorant,,,,,,,, local news just had a spot featuring our senior senator, George Voinovich, speaking at an Appalachian Development confab on jobs and energy in this part of the state, stressing universal high speed internet availability.
His choice observation was, "In today's world, any person who can't use the internet should be considered illiterate."Them what has ears to hear, let them hear. Listen up, now, John.
